Hi, I am looking at upgrading my ds209+ to a rack mount multi drive server & would like to know the difference in hardware & software between the RS812 & the RS812+
Is the ram able to be upgraded on both models? As 512mb or 1GB seems a bit small for running virtual machines on.

Hi
The software is the same, DSM.
But the hardware is 2 different systems, check the processor and RAM bus in this link.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will buy the RS812RP+ as it has a redundant pwr supply & the ram is upgradable to 3GB - This will be useful for virtual machines

The virtual machine doesn't run on the RS812, so the extra RAM is of questionable value.
