Hmmm.. I still godt the same error... I wonder if I should ask support, but I dont know if they can see that I have downgrade the firmware from DSM4? (mulitible times)

I belive your'r right that it did not wipe the partition fully, since the pictures (thumbnails) was at hand almost immediately...
This is bad, since backup of this device takes forever even if there is not much data on it.
EDIT: The covert procees og synoidex has started, maybe something good wil happen ?
