Cannot use “http://” without “www”

Heey there

I have a DS212+ (DSM-version 4.0-2198) and would like to use it as a web station.

Unfortunately, I can only access the website if I type "http://www.domain.dk" first. I cannot get it to work if I only write "http://domain.dk". Is it not possible to access my website via both methods? If I can, how can I fix it?

I have checked my DNS (GratisDNS) and put it up for having to work with both methods.

Then you have bought a domain like www.domain.dk instead of domain.dk which is not the same!
As you can see in my 'subtext' I have axj.dk as domain, but not www.domain.dk!

Hi

If you are using gratisdns.dk, then edit the A record, so you have, yourdomain.dk -> fixed IP address, and *.yourdomain.dk -> fixed IP address. This way both www, ftp and without should work.

Remember it takes up to 4 hours before the DNS is updated.

I use GratisDNS.dk as you say.. My setting is:
Vært IP TTL
localhost.mydomain.dk --> xxx.x.x.x --> 43200
mydomain.dk --> xxx.xxx.xx.xx --> 43200
www.mydomain.dk --> xxx.xxx.xx.xx --> 43200

I will try to advice and use a *.

I have solved the problem. Had to create web site twice in the "Virtual Host" on DS212 +. Both to the same folder but with different domain (one without and one with WWW).
