I have the exact same issue with my DS1812+.
Setup is 5 x 3TB HDDs on a SHR, single volume. Using DSM 4.0, build 2197 I think.
All HDDs are Western Digital Green 3TB WD30EZRX.
Spent the past week migrating all my data from a non-raided PC to the DS1812+, starting from 2 x 3TB and expanding to 3 x 3TB to finally a 5 x 3TB setup. Each expansion took about 40 hours!
I had RSS feeds and downloads going. Shared folders using ACL and was in the process of setting up MySQL.
Anyway, lost power today while I was away and when I got back and tried turning the DS1812+ back on, all I got was the blinking blue LED power light.
Forced it off (long hold power button), removed the power cable and the HDD bays. Left it for a while and tried putting the cable back in and turning it on without the HDD bays inserted. Still the same thing.
Really frustrating as this is brand new!
I've sent a ticket through. Waiting on response.
If I do have to get a new unit, how do I go about making sure I still have access to all my data?!?!

Have just received a response from support to organise an RMA with the local vendor. Seems to be a pretty widespread issue. Don't really have much confidence that the RMA unit won't have the same issue.

I put the drives back, in order, and ran the Synology Assistant which recognized the new DS NAS and offered the option to "Restore" it. I did that, and about 5-10 minutes later the new NAS acted like the old one that failed. That included continuing a media index/thumbnail process on my photo library that was running when I shutdown my old one.
The product is brilliant, but their support really sullies what would otherwise be a no-brainer purchase. As it is, I'm considering getting some more drives, buying a competitor's device that is at least reliable and can be rebooted safely, and moving my data over during the return period for this box.
