Re: Anyone interested in a transmission SPK? - v2.00

Postby Olivier C » Tue Jul 12, 2011 6:31 pm

I just installed the package and like some users, I get the failed to run the package service.
When I create a user in telnet I get this:

Scrambling password... transmission-daemon: symbol lookup error: transmission-daemon: undefined symbol: zcalloc
I can see that I got a new folder in my home folder

First, do I have to stop the actual Download station?

Any idea??

I have no problem accessing the transmission share. Make sure your user account has access to the "transmission" share.

I've been running zebellion's 2.31 spk without issues on my DS210 3.1....

Recently, I couldn't reach the transmission 9091 port.
Rebooted. No Dice.
Package shows started
Try to Stop. Package shows started
Reboot. Same
Upgrade - can't stop package

I read most of the 37 pages and tried some suggestions:

ps -ef | grep transmission-daemon
ps: invalid option -- e

BusyBox v1.16.1 (2011-06-29 11:49:19 CST) multi-call binary.

Usage: ps

Report process status

Options:
w Wide output

killall transmission-daemon
killall: transmission-daemon: no process killed
Pierre> grep unique /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf | sed -r "s/.*_([^_]*)_.*/\1
/g"
88f6281

transmission-daemon -f
-ash: transmission-daemon: not found
./transmission.sh start
-ash: ./transmission.sh: not found
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/transmission.sh status status
Running
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/transmission.sh stop
Stopping Transmission daemon...
kill: you need to specify whom to kill
(stuck - ctrl-c)
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/transmission.sh start
Transmission daemon already running

I'd be very grateful for any assistance.
Can't get it to stop, can't get it to start :(

]I´ve got the DS411 and its not listed among the compatible list for transmission. I tried with the DS411+ version but got denied.

Seems my unit has the 88f6282 CPU.

Any chance there will be a version for my model any tim soon. I would really appriciate it.

@humbfig: Which package did you install? I'm using a DS212+ and need to know what package to use.

BTW: I found out you can easily install Transmission for the DS212+ with the Package Installer (DSM). Add this http://synopkg.superzebulon.org/spkrepo/packages and you can select Transmission. Very easy.

I am new to linux and Transmission and need your help here.

How do I change the download destination on Transmission / Transmission remote GUI?
Everytime I start a download in the remote GUI I get following error and I dont know what to do.

I didn't change anything at my DS411slim, just use it out of the box with one volume, several directories (music, video,...) and 2 users ( admin and user, both with all access rights at the moment).

Transmission and secure login with browser ?

Postby SiNUS82 » Thu Jan 05, 2012 6:01 pm

I just installed Transmission on my DS411slim and am wondering how to protect myself from intrusion by others. There is no login screen or user management when I access Transmission from a browser via internet (for example http://myhostname:9091)

Am I missing something? :?:

Which version of Transmission have you installed?

Making sure Transmission is stopped and assuming you've gone for Zebulon's builds, install Config File Editor.

Now open it using the new icon, click on "Choose config file" and select Config File Editor.

At the bottom of the list add the following;

Code: Select all
/usr/local/transmission/var/settings.json,Transmission

and hit Save.

Now go back to "Choose config file" and you'll see a new entry - Transmission. Select it and work your way through the settings until you find the download location (currently set to; /volume1/transmission/download). Edit it to your chosen location - which you've already created and then...

Change rpc-authentication-required to true.
Change the rpc-username to a login name of your choice.
Change rpc-password to a password of your choice.

Hit save, start Transmission and away you go.

I had similar issues, and I'm only just installing on ancient CS407, DSM v 3.1.

So I 'upgraded' Sarav's version 2.13 to Zebulon's version 2.33 - no problems, now web page shows up, all seems well (except I can't seem to enforce a login for the web interface).

Zebulon seems to need user homes and sets up a new user ('transmission') without asking first, but that's ok.

Now to crack the blocklists issue...

[EDIT] Restart browser forced the login. all good

I'm using zebulon's package. Is there any way to prevent a user from using the transmission url if they know your ip and port? Right now it seems like anyone with the correct url can go in and mess around without having to log into DSM first

What does this have over Synology's built-in Download Station?
