Message "you are not authorized to use this service"

Postby Tohnmeister » Wed Mar 21, 2012 4:44 pm

Since yesterday I'm the proud owner of a DS212+. I configured my router so that I'm able to access the DSM from outside my network. Today I tried. It seems to work, but every few minutes I'm getting an error message saying "you are not authorized to use this service". If I click OK it logs me out and I have to log in again. If I log in again using the same browser instance, I will get the message immediately after logging in again. If I close my browser and log in again using a new browser session, it works again for several minutes.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and Chrome together with the latest DSM release (DSM 4.0-2198).

I have the same issue since I have upgraded to DSM 4.0-2197. It has something to do with the automatic logout timer. In case that timer has expired then the next time I try to login results in the message "you are not authorized to use this service". Only after restarting Chrome I'am able to login again.

Same issue here (although I do not need to restart Chrome to log in again right away). This automatic logout after just two or three minutes also breaks e.g. the Audio Station, as I get kicked out while listening to music.

Interestingly, this only happens to me when I am outside of my home network, logged in remotely as a user. Logged in as admin at home, I have no problems with session expiration.

Would anyone know how to extend the duration after which the session expires?

OK, I actually got mine solved by checking the box "Enhance browser compatibility by skipping IP checking", in Control Panel / DSM Settings / Security (I am behind a proxy). Now sessions don't expire anymore, at least not before the logout timer, which is set on the same settings sheet.

Not Authorized to Use This Service

Postby lyster » Wed Apr 18, 2012 10:12 pm

I can log in remotely to my DS212+ by accessing my IP:5000. I'll log in using an administrator account, and I can work with DSM for awhile - even play a tune on Audio Station. But eventually I will always get a warning pop up, "You are not authorized to use this service." What am I missing here?

I know this thread is a little old, but the fix here works:
http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=219&t=56602

My time was set to manual. I changed it in the control panel to update daily from a time server and voila! No more message that I am not authorized every 2 minutes.

(My time was about 15 min fast compared to real time)
