Surveillance station act strange after update 4.0

Postby thelaboman » Thu Mar 08, 2012 11:13 am

Setup : Syno1010+ and 2 D-Link cams DCS2121 connected via LAN.

Before DSM4.0 upgrade, motion detection was working fine
After DSM4.0 upgrade, motion detection is triggered a few times/minute -> if I look at the recorded or live image via the surveillance station, I notice that the view "jumps up and down" in a fraction of a second, but this is enought to trigger the motion detection. I already restarted my cams, but this didn't help ...

Does anyone expirience the same strange behaviour after dsm upgrade to 4.0 ?

I'm having the same issue. Lot's of false alarms. Currently after a few tries, I've been unable to find proper settings that allows simultaneously proper detection and low false alarms. We need to have a correspondance table between. Olds settings and new settings.

When I look closely I also see the video recorded to jump and that triggers detection !

Exactly the same for me, a lot of false alarm and it seems that its happening when the picture jumps. Synology you have to fix this. I have paid for 2 cameras and it is very annoying.
I have also 4.0
FIX THIS

Exact same issues here. False alarms every minute and the picture jumps.
Running DSM 4.0 on DS1511+
Camera: D-Link DCS-2121

Never had the problem in DSM 3.2

The camera I use is a DCS-2121. Is it a common point in this issue ? (note: everything was working perfect on DSM 3.2)

I have the same problem and this is the answer from Cynthia Chang Synology.

Thank you for the inquiry.

We check this is caused by this Camera OSD function in left top corner, which printed time and date.

If the jump comes up with Surveillance, the OSD position should jump too. However, the OSD position keeps in left top corner when it jumps, so we think it is caused by the camera. The Surveillance just received information from camera.

You may check if you can turn off this function in this camera.

Sincerely,
Cynthia Chang.

The problem is still unsolved i am working with 3 cams D-link dcs-2121
I have ask if it is possible to downgrade to DSM3.2

Hi everybody,
I've tried to upgrade camera firmware to 1.06 release (scroll issue), unofficial ? No improvements
What is sure is that when I turn off the NAS and check my webcam in direct connection I don't see any video glitch.
My opinion is that DSM sw is probably sending incorrect commands to the camera generating the glitches.
Synology you have to fix that !

This is consistent (=in agreement) with observations by Cynthia Chang ... it is not the OSD which is the problem.

Conclusion: the problem should be with the camera, not your DiskStation.

P.S. I am not associated with Synology - just a user.

Why did this problem not occur in the previous firmware then? The only thing that has changed is the DSM firmware....

Conclusion: the problem is with the DSM firmware, not the camera.

When I disconnect one of my DCS-2121 cameras and look at it in the D-Link webinterface there are no jumping. When I connect it to the Surveillance Station it starts to jump immediately.
So Synology take your responsibilitie and fix this problem now. It started when I uppgraded to 4.0
I have tried to unable OSD but it doesnt work.
This is a Synology error not D-Link

I have reached exactly the same conclusion, with same observations. My webcam is useless, more that 700 false detections per day ! This has to be fixed promptly !

This is not the case Claus : when I enable the cams in Surveillance station, the frame jumping is in the live view in ST as well as the web console of the cams directly.
When I disable the cams in ST, the live view on the web console of the cam is stable ....
Conclusion : it has something to do with the surveillance station ...
second reason : this was never a problem before firmware 4.0
