How do I uninstall Crashplan

Postby AussieGeek » Sat Mar 24, 2012 1:46 am

I installed CrashPlan using the instructions here:
http://kennethlarsendk.blogspot.com.au/ ... ology.html
But after my upgrade to DSM4 it doesn't seem to be running. I would like to uninstall and then reinstall using the package at
http://pcloadletter.co.uk/2012/01/30/cr ... o-package/

So, can anyone tell me how to uninstall it before I do the new package installtion? (or if I even need to?)

Thanks.

Removal instructions for a manual CrashPlan install:
http://pcloadletter.co.uk/2012/01/30/cr ... mment-2396

If you want to "un-bootstrap" your NAS to put it back to a stock install, run the bootstrap script you got from here a second time and it will give you instructions on how to do that:
http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.ph ... ,_ipkg_etc

To remove the Java which the CrashPlan installer automatically fetches someone else will need to help, because I have no idea what it does to your system (I have an ARM syno, not an Intel one so I can't test).

I would recommend you delete the folder which is shown when you run
Code: Select all
echo $JAVA_HOME

Then edit the file /etc/profile and remove the bit where it sets the JAVA_HOME variable, and the bit where it puts $JAVA_HOME/bin into the PATH variable.

Bear in mind that the Java install you currently have does not support non-US characters, whereas if you install my packaged one it will. Even if you're in an English-speaking country, you're likely to have at least some MP3 files with accented characters, so it is certainly something worthwhile.

For my packages (Java, Serviio, CrashPlan, CrashPlan PRO, CrashPlan PROe, Minecraft, Craftbukkit, OpenRemote, and Bliss), add my repo URL to Package Center: http://packages.pcloadletter.co.uk

Thanks patters! I followed the instruction but ran into the problem below and stopped there.

DiskStation> ./uninstall.sh -i /opt/crashplan
who: invalid option -- r
BusyBox v1.16.1 (2012-03-07 15:47:21 CST) multi-call binary.

Usage: who [-a]

Show who is logged on

Options:
-a show all

ERROR: cpio not found and is required for uninstall. Exiting
DiskStation>

Let me know if you'd rather I posted this on your blog for you to respond to (since it is about your script and others may benefit) or if it is fine here.

Oh, and thanks for all the things you have on your site for Synology servers, it is a great resource and I really appreciate the effort involved.

I hope that someone can weigh in on this one. I'm a newcomer to playing around with my NAS and definitely very very green on Linux, scripting etc.

Try running:
Code: Select all
export PATH=/opt/bin:/opt/sbin:$PATH

Then run that uninstall command again.

Thanks patters, that has done it.

Now I just need to get rid of the old Java before I go adding things back on again.

What would happen if I just deleted the directory? What else would I need to adjust, just the path?
