FXP!

I have two 107+ at different locations that I would love to partially synch. Having to do this in 2 steps via a PC is a hassle and a time killer!

+1 on the FTP client on the Synology NAS request. Would be really helpful.

No I do not believe you are doing anything stupid, Mike.
This is a real problem because many people rely on file dates to keep things organised.
What you CAN do is to ZIP your files before copying them.
Then when you UNZIP on the DSxxx the file times are recovered and you can delete the zip file.
Hope this helps.

I just bought the DS211 with DSM3 and after sync-ing several gigs I was surprised to see that only the files have the original timestamp and not the folders. Shouldn't this be a standard feature? Preserving original timestamp? Can anybody tell me what to do to make MFMT possible (or to preserve timestamp for files AND folders). I'm willing to do whatever. Like installing FileZilla Server on it or whatever. It is simply not acceptable that the timestamp is changed to current date time. Or tell me that I'm terribly wrong and doing something stupid.

Ability to create temporary account that can x-time up or downlaod from a specific directory. Be able to cut/paste the link to the directory in an email to send to the temp user. See ipswitch ftp software.

I would like to see updates to the FTP services to be able to specify a root folder for a user when they login and not be able to see any other folders.

I want to be able to create an account that has only FTP read access, and is locked down to only 1 specific folder which is set as their root folder at logon and they are unable to see anything beyond the contents of this folder.

I can do this with Windows server so why not with my uber kool Synology Linux server

Install 'ipkg' and then 'lftp' ... command-line only.

Under FTP - Security Settings there's an option "Change the selected users' root to user home",
Users selected here can access their home folders only while login Synology DiskStation via FTP.
You can change a user's home folder in /etc/passwd

That seems to have worked! Thanks very much :)

Is there anyway that the Diskstation could overwrite my changes to this file?

A SFV "checker" for the FTP would be a great addition!

Yes indeed. One that supports both SFV/CRC32 and MD5 checksums! :)

CRC32 really isn't suited for large file sizes (>20Mb), therefore, MD5 support is needed also.

In this day and age it would be very helpful to have a FTP server that one can see what clients are online, From what IP, and able to see what they are doing upload/download and what folder they are in the ability to disconnect them would also be very helpful. The FTP server seems to be a unfinished product still in beta as you can't seem to control it at all other then very basic level.

As far as I can see you can do all that ...
In the pop-up dashboard on the right under Current Connections it also shows FTP connects and on mouse-over you see the IP they connect from.
And in the System Logs you see all the transfers, location and file name.
Under Current Connections thera's a 'kill connection' button next to the user ...
