I'd like to be able to run a Domain controller for windows-based machines on my DS.
I've seen that it is possible to do this by manually installing a newer version of Samba, but it seems that doing this you lose the ability to see the file log and that you need to configure the domain "by hand".
So it would be nice to have it integrated to the DSM.![]()
I think that central management of users and ressources in the DS (that could be easyly up 24/7 because of its low power consumption and is a major system ressource on the network by itself) will be an interresting feature for many users.
Of course as not all users will have need of this, making it a package would certainly be a sensible choice.
Best regards.

An NTP Server
A DNS Server
Also if you could enhance the DHCP server a tiny bit to allow user configurable scope options (I need to be able to configure option 150 for IP phones to boot off) I'd be able to get rid of my other servers and just run a Syno environment![]()
Fantastic update with 4.0 as well, thanks for that
