HELP - DS1512+ Screwed Up

Postby tslewis » Fri Mar 23, 2012 8:25 am

I have had numerous issues with this. Only had it 3 days.

Not impressed so far tbh,

So, I have had numerous issues with my admin password not being reconginsed. I had to keep launchinh DS assistant form my mac os computer. Then it would somehow log me in automatically.

I installed DSM 4.

Running on a new macbook pro in OS-X snow leopard.

I dod a 4 sec resent. I was unable to change my admin password. Tried this numerous times in DSM too.

Decided to do a factory rest. No when I double click on the DS in ds assistant form Mac OS, it says latest DSM soft ware not installed. I go to the DVD that came with it, point to the DSM 3.2 .PAT file, and it says I have to install a newer version which obviously I can't as it was not shipped with the DS1512+ for some reason. Nice one.

ANy ideas?

Not impresse dthus far with help, and I have an 800 buck box siring there right now ready to go back soon

ok, my bad, in that I have resolved how to reinstall the latest DSM S/W when i have DSM 3.2 on a DVD.

yes, just go to the synology web site and download the latest s/w to desktop and point to it in browser.

after reinstalling after a full factory reset i had the option to change the password and have renamed my disk station.

Is it possible to change the name if the user from admin?

I just got my 1512+ 3 days ago as well, so far it is great.

From reading you post I think you are using your DDNS (cloud station) log on info to log into your Diskstation or vice versa. You need to type this into your macs browser address bar with out the quotes.

Replace Synology_server_name with whatever the name for your nas is, the default is "Diskstation" or if you know the ip address of the nas, use that.

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but there is nothing to do with your DDNS(set up with ez cloud) account to log onto your NAS. The DDNS password is for signing up to use the cloud service.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

Thanks for the reply. I think it's an issue with safari on my 2011 MacBook pro running lion. If i login using admin with correct password I get the message dam cannot log me in. If I then reload the page I go to dsm. The issue does not occur with Firefox. Also have no issue when i login from safari on my iPhone. All inthis above is accessing my disk station over my home wireless network using an apple extreme.

I can also access my disk station from my iPhone away from home in safari without a problem.

Wonder if it's a big with safari running on Mac os lion.

The disk station is pretty good so far but I'm a total newbie when it comes to networking and LAN.
