INSTALLING .PAT FILE (DSM)

Postby misterdog » Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:39 pm

I spent ages trying to install DSM on my DS211j (using Win.XP).
The solution however is simple.
The .pat file could not be opened by XP. So transferring the file to a USB flash drive (presume cd. would also work).
The .pat file can now be entered fom the D/E drive used.
Hope this saves people time.

Hi

I just curios what had happen for you, when trying to install the DSM (.pat) file?

The .pat file is just a zipped file and can be opened wit a program like 7zip.

The file is not to be opened before installing, but just put in a folder where it can be found again, and there by you can use the DSM update in control panel in 2 ways.

Either let the DSM update find the .pat file on synology server or press the button Manual DSM update, find the .pat file and let DSM update get the file like this.
