Synology Remote: Still Available?

Does anybody know if the Synology Remote is available to buy in the US?

What's the deal with this remote, anyway. Synology touts it as a main product on their website but it seems to be available only in Australia and maybe Germany and the UK. Does it work on the US systems? Is there something wrong with the RF signals on it? Why is availability so limited?

I followed up with a request to purchase the unit direct from Synology and ship it to me, but was greeted with this:

We do not import the Synology remote for sale in the US, as there has been insufficient demand for it in this market.

Maybe it's time to prove them wrong...

I also followed up and got the same result. I asked additionally if I could expect one to work (with my unit in the US) if I bought one in Australia. His reply:

I don't anticipate any problems if you import one.
