I have upgraded from 3.2 to 4.0 and I am suffering from really slow responses from the web console and intermittent issues with some of the applications running (Squeezebox refuses to start for example). I suspect that someone along the line I have hacked about with something too much getting crashplan up and running (There is now an auto installer available!)
I would like to do a clean install of DSM, getting rid of all the customisations but retaining all my NAS data (very important!)
Can someone advise how best to do this?

I had thought this would be an easy one?
Anyone?

Hello,
Have you tried using the synology assistant (you know the program with wich you installed your synology product when you first get it) to re-install the DSM ?

Hi,
do read the FAQ
here.
Although this shouldn't touch your data, it is wise to keep a back-up of it
Synology DS-209 | DSM 4.1-2668 | 2 x WD20EARS (RAID1) (Time Backup | PhpMyAdmin | PhpLdapAdmin | PhpPgAdmin | Mailstation 2 | Svn | Directory server | Syslog server)- USB Conceptronic CHD3SU | WD20EARS (Ext-4)
Synology DS-209 | DSM 4.2-3202 | 2 x WD5000AAKS (RAID0) (syslog server)- USB Conceptronic CHD3NET | WD5000AAVS (Ext-4)
Corruption wears infinite disguises.

Have you been able to do a fresh install without losing you data??
I'm very interested to know the exact procedure and to be reassure that losing data is a very low probability.

I haven't attempted it yet. I will hold off until I can work out how I can backup all the data!

Just an FYI I did the fresh install as posted in the FAQ above and it worked well. No data was lost.
