DSM 4.0 beta testing end date?

Postby uahero » Wed Feb 08, 2012 10:08 am

I am not so brave about asking for the possible DSM 4.0 live date, so would try to ask in the different way - is there any end date set this Beta testing?
Cheers ;)

You're only going to get sarcastic "When it's done" answers from people here. Typically the beta testing is a 6-8 weeks so draw your own conclusions.

I heard someone over at Synologys Facebook page was saying something about 2 months beta time.
Offcause, can't confirm it or anything.

Do they tend to release multiple betas? I'm ready to move on from the Jan 14 version...

Depends.... Do you want DSM 4.0 released with little bugs as possible or do you want it early and full of bugs?

As its been said, it will be ready when its ready. I 100% support synology to hold it back till its 'cooked'. I don't want my NAS to be flakey for months while they fix the bugs etc.

Don't be so judgemental. All he did was ask if there's an end date for the Beta testing.

Kettle is that you?

Yes I know asked for a end date of the beta but normally this only happens when it leaves beta status aka RTM and as I said, it will be released when its ready.

I also support Blizzard's style of the release cycle - to release a product when it is well cooked.

I asked, because some companies, like the one i work for, have approximate release dates for their products.

Dont get me wrong, i am not in hurry, i am just very excited.

I also struggle with current DSM 3.2 limitations and issues.

Hi between

This is correct, you have to wait 6-9 weeks...

Funny these people ALWAYS appear, as if they have nothing better to do :)

An explanation seems to be in order:
I to want to know a release date. Now, wanting to know a release date is not the same as wanting a buggy version. If I can choose between an early buggy release or a later stable release I of course want the later release (otherwise I install the beta). Did the person who started the thread ever say anything else? All he asked for was if there was any more info regarding release date yet, but unfortunately people like you always show up...

I work with software development, and if we say 5-10 weeks of testing, after 5 weeks we normally know if it is closer to 5 weeks or 10 weeks. Now, if they don't want to communicate that I understand, but don't try to be a smart ass and twist his words in order to make yourself feel better

I thought it was a pretty simple question I'm not sure what the problem is... I would also like to know.

P.s. I hope it is released before DiabloIII hahaha oh lol. (Yes I know Blizzard has a good record of polishing their titles, shouldn't be hard when you are getting around 48 trillion dollars a month that you can use to pad your dev dept.)
