Surveillance Station - Timeline sync-view

Postby joechong » Tue Jan 24, 2012 6:34 am

I upgraded to the new beta, and am experiencing with problems in Surveillance Stations such as
1. Recorded events cannot play continuously when there's a pause in the event timeline.
2. Preset camera settings always run out-of-sync from initial settings.

I'm using 4x Foscam FI8918W.

Same here with the timeline view halting. I use a Panasonic BL-C140 camera. I have submitted an error report some days ago and was contacted by synology for further data this morning.

Surveillance station now twice as bad!

Postby king1 » Thu Jan 26, 2012 1:59 pm

Previously I got random stop recording on my Panasonic WVNS202 with surveillance station, now it randomly stops recording in motion detect mode on that AND the Foscam F18908W. This along with unusable playback that stalls and freezes when it does record, still crashes java in Firefox and crashed internet explorer when switching tabs....

New and improved, now twice as bad as before. Well done! I am in awe!

I agree, that Surveillance Station during playback freezes. Its completely unusable on low performance DS. Maybe on DS top models it works fine.

Well it used to be fine on older S.S versions. Mine is a DS209. I see no point in making new things and older things "shiny" unless you fix and make reliable the existing ones first.

Hi King1 and Gangsterwagen,

Thank you for participating in our DSM4.0 Beta program.

We believe there are potentially two different issues here:

king1: Recording stop randomly and browser crashed issue

gangsterwagen: Timeline player pause issue

We will provide further assistance if both of you can submit a support ticket to beta@synology.com

If you have already submitted a support ticket, please private message me with the ticket number and our engineers will attempt to fix your issue remotely.

Thank you.

Surveillance Station issues

Postby jonis » Sat Feb 04, 2012 12:40 pm

Hi All.
I send this issue to support but no response there so i post it here also!

Hello.
I want to report bugs in the SurveillanceStation.

I have been very impressed with your products, price vs performance and user interface.

I think that many companies could use your products as complete surveillance solutions.
But at the moment you’re not that well known..

Well over to the bugs I found.
I have a DS211J , one issue is that I don’t know how many cameras this unit/processor can handle.
Usually there is specified frame rate vs resolution, but this I could not find.
But I don’t think that is a factor in this bug.

Hard drives I use are 2x seagate barracuda st31000528as in raid.
(for security).
I set up the system so it records in mpeg4 mode, 3 x cameras in 640x480, 20 fps.
In live mode all works ok, some delay but within acceptable.

The problems are:
When using the timeline view, its very slow to start showing the video feed.
You need to press play , pause and then play again to make it start showing the video feed.
It shows a few sec and then pauses ,, like its buffering or similar
The playback is also either speeded or in slowmotion..

When using the event list there is the same problem when you want to play an event.
Lagging,, buffering and plays at high speed.

I first thought it was due to a poor internet connection, but if I test to download a event to my hard I get very good download speed
Like 2 mb/sec. This should be more then ok for viewing mpeg4 video streams.

Note: The Live mode works 100 ok, no issues there!
I can view 4 cameras at full speed without any lagging.

Question.
I have set up the system to send me sms when there is movement in the cameras in surtain times.
Like in night times and weekends when there is not supposed to be anyone there.

But i have a cleaning lady coming on saturdays.
I dont want to get 100 emails during the time she is there cleaning.
So is there a way to set up so that if a movement is detected, or even a number of movement.
1-5 maybe, the system then wait x number of minute before sending another email?
So a delay?

DS CAM Iphone
My cameras record sound in G726 and DS Cam don’t seem to like this.
I can use live view but get no sound.
When trying to play back events I just get a error mess stating that playback is not possible due to not supported sound.

That is the bugs I found so far.
I hope you can solve this since I believe that this is a really good product that I want to recommend and maybe even sell to some old xxxxxx customers…

The playback of video in S.S has been terrible for ages and completely unusable. I told them about his in DSM 3.2 and it was never fixed. It is still the same in the 4 beta.

Even with playback on 3.2 it used to crash IE for no reason whatsoever, seems to work ok now by a quick test other day, so wondering whats different between users browser/settings.

I still get java crashes (along with the unusable playback) when changing tabs or exiting in firefox, Internet explorer slightly better but playback still unusable.

A long time ago I had similar problems. Uninstall plugin and install it again. Same goes for Java, and it will fix it.
If it keeps on lagging on playback, try seeing if your NAS is otherwise busy. Busy as in just streaming a video, og having an active filetransfer.
