Got the same problem here.
Contacted Synology Support by e-mail. Within 1 day Synology replied with the announcement to send me a new fan and a fan-replacement manual.
Today i received my new fan an i replaced it.
This solved the problem !!
I received my fan today as well. Although without the manual.
How did you open the case?

elpirt wrote:Sorry to bother. How did you open the ds212? I mean so you could get to the fan? Thanks.

spud wrote:Yesterday I upgraded my DS212+ to DSM 4 beta and started to have the exact same problem as can be heard in the youtube clip. That confirms to me that it's a software (and weak hardware?) issue.
Synology is already sending me a replacement fan, but I think, judging from this thread, it will not help me.
About the Arctic fan, which size do I need to buy? (I'm not at home, so can't measure the thing now).
