 SynoDS: Synology DL Station on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch

Quick update : I've updated SynoDS to fully work with DSM4.0beta, I now have to submit the update to Apple. It may be available during next week depending on Apple review time !

Sylver, one can not use dns or ip anymore, only works to connect with host name/ip ;( I have 4.0, before updating all worked fine, now with latest SynoDS combined with 4.0 dns connection is faileing :/

I have done no change on this part in latest update of SynoDS ... Could you give me some example of what is working and what is not working to be sure to understand well the problem ?

Thank you for this application, it is really great (one of my essential ipad) I watch literally updates and especially that of the morning was well worth it, I had therefore to thank you for all your work ... THANK YOU!

PS: I do have a little problem, I use the built-in browser to download torrents on T411, as the management of private tracker does not work with RSS and frequently, when I try to download the link (download Torrent), the application crashes and I return to the springboard ... any idea?

Well I have a dynamic IP, it changes from time to time, which got me interested in DNS services, I got myself something.dyndns.org, while setting up SynoDS with that IP, the app won't connect anymore (which leads to me not being able to use this application from anywhere else but when I'm home using only WiFi, when everything worked I could use this app over 3G) but, while being home using hostname or internal IP to the disk in the server setup part of this app works just fine, the app and all the services works perfectly.

I have tried all the possible settings, whit SSL on/off (when on using port: 5001, when off using: 5000).

So only scenario in when app works and gets fully functional is when one uses hostname or internal IP address whit SSL turned off.

Actually RSS for private trackers is working ! But on T411 there is a bug (at their side) causing the user to be disconnected from the server when the RSS feed of T411 is accessed ! I told about to bug to T411 staff, it was added in their bug list but is not yet solved ! So for now remove the t411 rss feed from synods !
For the crash problem, you should make sure that you are connected and to wait for the webpage to be fully loaded before trying to download !

From outside, nothing happens and I keep on getting "Request Timed out" so I guess that I just don't reach my syno.
Because I don't have a public static IP, I use a dyndns (ovh) but I don't think that the issue is there because the result is the same whatever method (IP/dns) I tried.
I think the port forwarding (5000 -> 5000) is correct as my DS Audio / DS File / DS Photo / DSM Mobile work fine both from inside/outside the LAN.
If someone has an idea, I would be more than happy to test it

could you send me an email (using the "contact the developer" button in the app) with the details to connect to your NAS (I don't need a login/password for testing the connection, just the IP and port).

By resetting settings, restarting services and applications, port mapping and so, I got it work once again. Besides the obvious SSL connection. So, I thank you for all of the informative responses in this post.

I do have two requests for SynoDS at this point though. In which I think these would eliminate "DS Finder" application completely if you could implant them: the fist is being able to turn off and reboot the NAS. The second would be being ale to turn the NAS on using WON.

Ps, Maybe these could be included in a alternative version SynoDS+? I would more than gladly pay for that version or upgrade!!

I had several requests for Wake on lan/wake on wan/shutdown from SynoDS ! I'll work on that !
As I said, I do not plan to make some in app purchase features in SynoDS, every new features will be free

Wow! Honestely i'm surprised with this app! It works brilliantly in every way. I built a mobile tool to scrape TPB for search. It works pretty well in your in-app browser. I might have an odd request if I may though. I suspect it's quite easy to build in.

Could you build in support for URL-schemes within your in-app browser? I.e. the url imdb:///find?q=godfather launches the IMDb app and searches for the Godfather. It works in Safari but in the app it says: Error - The URL can't be shown.

I was hoping I could do a work-around on my part but apparently that's not possible. I did come across this though, but i'm not an app programmer so I don't know if it's usefull.

Maybe a stupid question but I haven't been able to find it out anywhere else...if I run my Synology NAS through VPN (PPTP) via a router, will I then be able to reach it outside my home network with SynoDS?
