I’ve been using the Lite version of the app on my ipad2 and I’m very impressed. Before buying, I wanted to know if it’s possible to stream my movies over my DLNA Synology NAS DS210+ outside my wlan?
Actually, the URL 8Player uses to access my DS-210+ locally is: http://192.168.0.2:50001/desc/device.xml and it works very well. My Synology NAS is discovered right away.
I have registered my NAS over a DNS Service in order to be able to access my NAS from anywhere in the world. It works, I can manage it without any problem using http://myexternalip:5000/webman/index.cgi
But, when I try this external IP in 8player,: http://myexternalip:50001/desc/device.xml 8player doesn’t see my DS210+. I have opened the ports 50001 and 50002 on my DLink DIR-615 router, as you can see on the picture.

My router IP is: 192.168.0.1
As suggested for 3G playing (or WIFI using external IP) here: http://smeshkova.com/8player/3g I tried to open my local IP http://192.168.0.2:50001/desc/device.xml (the one that works with my local LAN with 8player) with my browser (Firefox) on my PC, I get results but when I try the external IP http://myexternalip:50001/desc/device.xml , I get a timeout.
So, I’m trying to figure out how to make this works. Could you help me on this matter?
