Not good solution!

A corporate firewall of course can inspect http protocol, but by definition https can not be inspected because the trust relationship is between your web browser and the secure site you are accesing, if you think your afirmation you are saying that any secure site could be intercepted by a man in the middle attack, easy and indetectable.

This will be an issue. Most commercial networks block unnecessary ports, be it at work, in a hotel, or at a coffee shop. And if I can't access my cloud from anywhere but home, what good does it do me?
Other Cloud services like, e.g., DropBox or iCloud access their servers via port 80 or 443, which are open pretty much everywhere. For the new Cloud Server to be useful, it needs to follow that example.

If your router is smart enough. You can map external por 80 to internal port 6690 and bypass your office limitation. Another alternative is mapping external port 443 to internal port 6690.

mm so to have ezcloud at office i would only need to open port 443 on my home router to 6690 of the diskstation?
what should i put in cloudstation as address? something like xx.yy.zz.ww:443?
(that would by ok for me, btw i also opened a bug for socks/proxy support :| )

Apart from having to bend the cloud client to use port 443 (which I'm not even sure can be done), that kills my ability to run photostation over https. So it's not an option for me.

By the way, does anyone know how to use the DSfile app (iPhone) to access the Cloud Server directly without having to open WebDAV to the world?

Enable ds file under control panel > ezcloud > quick connect and write the cloud id in ds file instead of your domain.

Cloud Station does not support account other than admin

Postby wch » Wed Jan 18, 2012 11:12 am

It takes a while finally and get Cloudstation to work but with one major limitation - must use admin to login. Why?

I tried to add another account with user home access and grant right for Cloudstation. When I logon from the desktop Cloud client - it says - "Fail to sync files with the diskstation because your cloud station privileges have been modified. Contact your DSM administrator for help"

Anyone encountered a similar issue? Thanks.

Cloud Station other folders and sharing folder

Postby roeiegans » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:19 pm

As I understand, Cloud Station now only supports syncing with the specific users home folder, correct? In the future will it be possible to choose another folder?

I'm now using Dropbox to sync and share files and for versioncontrol with a projectgroup. Is it (or will it be) somehow possible to share my synced folder with other users so they can sync the same folder on their desktop PC?

Cloud Station Public folder?

Postby vaya_putada » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:59 pm

Hi,

I need to has a public folder that allows anonymous access to everyone from Internet. I want this for share some documents in puntual moments with people that hasn't an account on my box.

Is this possible in any way with DSM 4.0??? I can share link's from DS-File but it always asks for a user/pass.

Thanks!

What about using FTP, and allowing anonymous login?

Users can access this using the windows explorer, and a format like this: ftp://xxx.com.

I was having trouble with a connection to my nas from work also. I used this website [url]http://www.firebind.com//url] to test which ports my work network was blocking and used that information to use the correct settings on my nas to gain outside access.

You can share files without a login by going to File Station > select all the files you want to share and right click > Share file links > You can enable a password protection or leave it blank > click Share to get the links.

Re: Cloud Station does not support account other than admin

Postby AndyTS » Wed Jan 18, 2012 3:26 pm

I have the same problem as OP. I am fully aware that (in beta at least) I can only have one active account on my DS211J but I closed the admin cloudstation account and assigned it to another user (I don't want everything going through the admin account - I want that for admin). But I get the same result as OP.

I did notice that when I did a connection test on my portforwarding settings as applied by the EZInternet App all connections failed or were not tested. So I assumed this was the problem

Any help would be highly appreciated.
