How to access and edit php.ini?

Postby mic » Fri Jan 06, 2012 12:24 pm

Hi,

Sorry if it is the wrong place, but at the moment it seemed the right one for asking for help.
I need to make a change in my php.ini file, to add this piece of code on the end of it:

[APC]
apc.rfc1867 = on

Unfortunatly, my server administrator can't help me right now, and gave me admin permission to enter Synology (DSM 3.2) and try it myself.

After reading all kinds of topics around here, i think a way of doing that is by telnet. I can oly check that telnet chekbox from my control panel, but i don't know how to access it or what to write there..

Does anyone can help me?
Thx a lot,
Mic

Yes, you need to use a client like putty (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ ) to telnet in. The CP setting is only for allowing such an external client to connect.

You may also need to configure the "router configuration" in CP to allow telnet through (port 23 for telnet or 22 for SSH), and that should reflect the actual router settings for port forwarding, if applicable. Again, you may need to ask the admin about that.

On my system (PHP 5.3.6) php.ini is at /usr/syno/etc/

You can use vi to edit it - commands here:
http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.ph ... _vi_Editor

I'm a Synology noob so I don't know if there are variations of location, and I've recently been advised to log in as "root" so as to make changes.
