Loosing networkshare connection after 10 minuts

Postby hni » Wed Dec 28, 2011 2:48 pm

Hi guys.

I have a huge problem with my Synology 209+.
Everything works perfect, but after about 10 minuts my Twix mediaplayer and my Windows PC (win7) loose connection to my shares on the Synology NAS. But I can still access the webmanager in my browser and work with the synology. Nothing is wrong there. So it must be something with the
Windows-fileservice or NFS-service?????

The only different I have felt is that the Synology box has been pretty slow for the last couple of weeks when I remove files etc.

Hope someone can help me.

Regards,
Henrik

I did a hardware reset on the back on the Synology, and now it works! :-)

I'm also having issues with connectivity on my NAS.
Does a hardware reset erase data on the disks?

I just started using my 411j (4x2TB drives in RAID5)... I created a shared folder and it's mounted on macbook pro and keeps disconnecting while copying my photo library (~800gb) , they are both connected to the same wired router. I tried a direct copy , I also use chronosync copy to the NAS.

It's been 3 days and I am still unable to have my library on the NAS, it's very frustrating. I hope you can help ASAP.

Thanks,
Shadi

Loosing connection to web admin interface & all network shar

Postby megas » Fri Feb 24, 2012 3:53 pm

Hello,

I just bought a Synology 411 and set it as best as possible (Network/Win/MAc/NFS share activated/Firewall with share services enable/Time/etc.) but the web admin DS411 interface keep been disconnected every random 5-10 minutes. Ip is correct (static & really free). Ping is ok but admin web interface connection keep being crashed and disconnected and require to shutdown the browser and the Synology Assistant executable to restart.

We don't have any network problem with other servers with share (100% windows 2003 & 2008 OS with Windows 7 & XP).

Same for Synology DS411 network share : I loose connection every 5-10 minutes even in the middle of a file copy operation...It's so frustrating and unusable !!! What a mess for a NAS :

X:\save>xcopy G:\save\* /e
G:\save\01-02-2012\biz.zip
G:\save\01-02-2012\com.zip
G:\save\01-02-2012\project.zip
File creation error - The network path was not found. <==== THE SYNOLOGY DS411 SHARE CRASHED, THE CONNEXION IS LOST !!!

Maybe my new Synology 411 doesn't work and maybe it s a hardware problem. Can I return the product or is it a fix or a workaround ? I already do the firmware upgrade : it doesn't fix this problem !

Thanks for your attention,
Megas

I'm experiencing a similar problem.

Friend is running a DS207. Reported to me that the DS would 'lock up' and he couldn't access any files. Major problem as all his work is on the disks. He reboots the device and he can access files again. This happens couple or more times a day.

I took a look and other than a couple of event log messages about the device stopping, nothing. Upgraded DSM to the latest patch for a DS207, however its still doing it.

Anyone got any ideas as to whats next? He suggest getting a new device, which seems a little drastic to me.

TIA

as i see this is an old thread but the topic is not :(

my DS112j disconnects every now and then and tell me there is a problem with the network connection. but im sure there isnt.
it happens while uploading files with the file station tool and it disconnects the net-volume mounted in windows.
very annoying!

and there is no firmware on the download site for the drive..
of course i use the latest DSM 4.1-2668; Build Date: 2012/12/18

any ideas or confirmations?

I had a similar issue when I had the bright idea to replace the network cable connecting my ds212j to the router while is was up and running and my win7 was also running and there was a network drive connected.

After that, however I made a new mapped network drive, I always kept disconnecting after a few minutes or so, sometimes reconnecting after I tried to access it several times.

At this time, the ds212j was configured with a static ip.
I then did several thing, I set it back to dhcp, after committing it, the ds212j got a new ip from the router. The I mapped a new drive, not with the ip, but with \\diskstation\downloads.
After this, the issue was gone.

So maybe try to get a new (static) ip for the nas or setting a new host name for the nas.
I got the impression it was actually a win7 issue.
