Unable to access DSM interface but ftp, nfs, ssh are ok !

Postby parisbyday » Mon Dec 26, 2011 5:48 pm

Hello,

I have a strange behaviour.
I cannot access to the DSM web interface of my DS1511+ running V1944 from my LAN (wired) or Internet.
The http connection time out ("The connection has timed out").
This means that DSaudio is not working either.
However web server are fine ! i have on this box cacti running, web services.
ftp is ok, nfs as well. Same thing for webdav and the associated DSfile application on IOS device.
So i dont understand why the DSM is unreachable anymore.
I post this just in case somebody already had this issue and got the solution for me or the workaround.

Jean.

Ds photo still works, ds audio doesn't.
Seems to be related to the automatic redirection of port 80 to 5000, however i have no workaround..
When looking at thé french forum, it seems this problem Is fréquent with the latest versions ...

Same problem for me (DS411-II DSM 3.2-1955) in LAN (wired).

No access to DSM interface via web browser; afp ok.
No problem with previous DSM 3.2 build.

Temporarly solved turning off and then on the NAS.
After some time (hours) the problem returns.

Synology Assistant finds the NAS but in Status says "Connection failed."

No workaround found at the moment.

im having this problem after upgrading my RS2211+ from DSM 1922 to 1955.

I can access the shares and ssh to the RS, but none of the web based applications is accessible.

DSM 1944 updated Apache to 2.2.21 might there be some problem there? is the webserver running at all i wonder?
Im not so Linux-savvy, so it would be nice if someone could give a hint in the right direction.

HI!

Not a massive forum poster so forgive me if I miss any intricate details!

I too am having this issue with my DS1511+. I'm not HUGELY SSH savvy but have managed to find my way around to the folder locations on the box via SSH (Terminal on the mac) that contain my Documents, Video's, Pictures and Audio.

I believe I am running DSM 3.2 beta. I wanted to upgrade the DSM the other day when I could access the webman interface but it was an issue with the space created from an upgrade area perspective that meant there wasn't enough space to download the NEW DSM package to - anyway I digress.....

Simply put, I can't even get to my web man interface but CAN access via SSH. Please help!!!!!!

I might have found a fix, but not sure how or why it fixed it.

I just purchased the DS411+ ii tonight, and was enabling jumbo frames on all my NICs.
Played around with DSM, and it would freeze up on me, and I couldn't log back into DSM.
Not only that, my write speeds were atrocious, maxed out at about 35 MB/s.
Also, test video files transferred to the DS wouldn't play.

Frustrated at all of this, I decided to just disable jumbo frames on all my NICs.
Restarted everything, and lo & behold, all my issues were fixed. I could log back into DSM through the web interface, and the test video files were playing perfectly.

Hope this helps someone else!

I had jumbo frames always disabled, MTU 1500.

Sometimes it takes a week till the the webinterface is not longer accessible and
I have to telnet into the box to reboot it.

I fixed the issue I was having. In my situation, the auto ip block kicked in because I had entered the wrong password too many times in a row. Luckily, when i came back to my LAN, I could disable the auto block. Is there any way to do this via the terminal?

If the web interface is not accessible anymore (but rest works) probably your system apache is not running, menas crashed.

Instead of rebooting the NAS you could just use
Code: Select all
/usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh

on the CLI to restart it.

But I cant tell you why it is crashing periodicaly. May be Synology supportcan give you some hints if you send them the kernel log.
