Here the answer of the Synology Tech :
The root cause is that some other function keep using the "download_redirector.cgi". So it finally hit the system session limitation. We assume you are using our download redirect application or you may install other browser add-ons that try to communicate with Download Station.

Currently, we change the name of the "download_redirector.cgi" to prevent this problem.

Finally it's working now until 2 days without lost of connection.

Thanks a lot, Synology Tech. team !!

I don't have "Download redirector", but I've installed on a second PC a Firefox extension called "Synoloader 0.9". I've disabled it now, and I don't remember when I installed it as I never used it.

I've seen that the Download redirector works on port 5000. Could be an exterior attack too.
For now, as I give root access to my Diskstation at the Synology Tech. team, I allow only their IP to passtrough my router on port 5000. Could be that too.

Best regards,

Christophe

Hi Chris,

Did you see how they went in and change the name of the download_redirector.cgi? I have to fix this problem.

Have anyone tried the hard reset and reinstall DSM 3.2-1955? Does that fix the problem. I just set my DS211j up and put a bunch of data in there. I don't mine reinstalling DSM if it doesn't touch the data. I just want to double check that this fixed the problem.

Thanks!

Hello,

I can confirm the above statements. I have also installed the FF extention SynoLoader which uses the port 5000. I can also confirm that the latest BETA relaese do not fix the problem...

Here s what I could reproduce:
When the webui is not available, I have a big red cross on the Synoloader icon in FF.
I restart the apache server, and after a while the red cross on the icon disapear and I can again connect the webUI and send downlaods over the synoloader, which I could not do because of the red cross (download file failed...).

Because I want to keep this extension for the moment as I do not have found another better way to directly send files to the Download station, I have build a VBS script that restart the apache server... Here the simple code source. Just replace the password by your own "et voila"...

****************************************************
set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell.run"telnet.exe diskstation"
WScript.Sleep 2500
WScript.Sleep 2500
WshShell.SendKeys"root"
WshShell.SendKeys("{Enter}")
WScript.Sleep 1500
WshShell.SendKeys"<yourPassword>"
WshShell.SendKeys("{Enter}")
WScript.Sleep 1500
WshShell.SendKeys"/usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh restart"
WshShell.SendKeys("{Enter}")
WScript.Sleep 1500
WshShell.SendKeys"exit"
WshShell.SendKeys("{Enter}")
***************************************

My question, is there a way to increase this limit, or tell the synology to accept ALL incoming connection to the port 5000 if the come from the same range as the syno (from your LAN, and not from an external IP address) ?

I hope to find soon a "fix" from synology or another way to send files to the download station...
Kind regards,
David

Hi again,

Additionally to this, I just figured out this evening that there is an FF Synoloader plugin update that is supposed to fix connections issues...

I have updated it, and I will post an update soon.
Note as well that my PC is running 24/24 with almost 99% of the time FF opened....
Let's see.

Hi all,

I had a similar issue after making changes to my network infrastructure. I had added a new 1GB switch and moved most of my devices to that new switch. After that, my iSCSI disks would no longer mount and I could no longer access the Wen UI. In my case, I could point my browser to the IP address and port 80 and it would redirect me correctly to https on port 5001 and also add the path to DSM to the URL. However, DSM would never load but the browser would just sit there and spin and say "loading".

My simple solution was to configure my iMac (the computer I was using to configure my DiskStation and where I was mounting the iSCSI disks) to use standard MTU sizes (1500). I had previously configured my iMac to use jumbo sized MTU (9000). I will try to go back to jumbo and see if it works.

BTW: This was with DSM 3.0 and now I just upgraded to 4.0.

Cheers.
