That is good news... could you you provide such sort of a client to be used in conjunction with Boxee Box as well? Boxee Box runs a slimmed down version of Linux, pretty much the same as Synology...

oh in case, our support account is "sundtek" on Skype :-)

Looks nice! But will it work with other media center clients? I don't like Windows Media Center, and I wouldn't like to use a computer to run it. I have a Boxee Box instead. Could this be linked to the Synology PVR project?

P.S. On a side note, soon will be available a USB TV dongle from Boxee which might be able to decode cable and terrestrial TV signal. But it will not be a PVR, from what I understand.

As for Windows it can be used as a local device - just via network.

For Boxee we do not have any Boxee device, Boxee is supposed to use xbmc when used with tvheadend Boxee should also support it via network.

However the dongle should just work locally on the Boxee device there's no particular reason why it shouldn't. We have ARM/PPC/MIPS/X86/X86-64 drivers in the installer which do not depend on particular kernelversions. To be sure about that you can ask one of our engineers via skype in order to double check (in case you can allow some remote access).

Something else than Windows Mediacenter (DVBViewer) also via network:

Boxee Box is a closed system. I doubt any drivers can be manually installed on it.

I would be pleased though to have the Synology/Sudntek/TVheadend configured as PVR and access it through SMB protocol from Boxee Box, which has a web browser.

Even better, it would be great if a 3rd party app could be developed and made available through Boxee's repository, so that it would have a proper interface.

But right now, I do not have a Sundtek dongle. I hesitate in between order it, or wait for Boxee Live TV dongle, which would provide probably the same DVB-T, DVB-C features, minus recording option, unless they manage to allow saving video files on network shared folders, which they could then be on Synology NAS.

I have compil & execute tvheadend for my DS211, but i can't test it because i don't have the sundtek key yet (wait it in few days). So i have access to menu of the gui interface :

https://www.lonelycoder.com/redmine/boa ... 876?r=2926

you need the developper environnement of synology for cross compiling (i have compiled under ubuntu)

You can use IPKG with all your favorite tools, but you have to 'bootstrap' the DS. For more info:

Hi everybody,
So i have received the sundtek and made tests with the help of "sundtek".

I have directly installed the optware on the synology and have compiled the tvheadend for the DS211! (there is additionnal libs to install, some links to create etc...)

After i have plug the Sundtek dongle and installed the sundtek driver (there is some little stuffs to know... but sundtek is here :D !! )

And it works !!!! enough CPU & enough memory !!

I have tested in 2 configurations :
- dongle on the synology
- dongle on the remote PC on the LAN, and used the network feature between the NAS and the remote PC.

In both cases it works fine !!

Can you make a hands-on how you did that, so other uses can benefit of your knowledge?

So the TvHeadend part :
So you need : ipkg & optware : http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.ph ... ,_ipkg_etc
http://forum.synology.com/wiki/index.ph ... stall_ipkg
optware : ipkg install optware-devel

On the synology
git clone https://github.com/andoma/tvheadend
cd tvheadend
bash ./configure --cc=gcc --disable-avahi
make
You will have some missing library, you will have to install then with "ipkg install libname"
tvheadend executable is in build.Linux subdirectory

need to add the library :
- ipkg install gconv-modules
- export GCONV_PATH=/opt/lib/gconv

NB: this is tips, maybe i have forgotten some points

For sundtek part
sundtek can add things on these points.

Installation :
wget http://www.sundtek.de/media/sundtek_installer.sh
chmod 755 sundtek_installer.sh -nolirc
sudo ./sundtek_installer.sh

Configuration :
create the file : /etc/sundtek.conf and add lines
-initial_dvb_mode=DVBT (in DVB-T)
-device_attach=/etc/init.d/tvheadend restart (change the path, depending of where is the tvheadend binary)
-enablenetwork=on

add int /etc/rc.local
- /opt/bin/mediaclient --start
NB: rc.local don't seem to work properly on the synology (sundtel will check this point on my NAS).

Hope this help :)
Done on a DS211 !

Maybe you can try to add a sh-script with, for example S99zzmediastart.sh (this will be executed at the end when the DS starts up), in /usr/syno/etc/rc.d/

Surely does!! Nice! This is surely a reason to get a Sundtek dongle :)

/bin/sh: /volume1/temp/tnt/tvheadend/support/mkbundle: not found
make: *** [build.Linux/bundles/docs/html.c] Error 127

There is no file build.Linux/bundles/docs/html.c :-(
