shuffle do not proper randomize songs

Hi,

I have a playlist with almost 4000 songs in it.

When I press shuffle, it shuffles the song in some semi random way.

Alway starting with the first song and picks songs as follows; song from page 52,1,48,1,52,1,48,6,52,48,1,56... and so on

As you can see this is not a real randomize functionallity. The problem for me is it that it does this until those pages are empty and then go on with 6 new pages.

In short, shuffle doesn't work properly, at least not with long playlists.

Does anyone has a solution or maybe can point me to another software that works with DS410. An app would also do, then I could play it through my iphone (DS Audio has the same problem).

The solution should come from Synology I think...

It does not work with long playlist or with short(er) playlists.
My suggestion to Synology is, besides a better randomize function, to add a counter for everytime a track is played and skip that track as long as there are tracks who has not had that many turn's yet (this is functionality that is, or at least was, implemented in iTunes/iPod).

It would also be nice if you can add a option to a playlist to indicate it should be shuffeled (or not) every time the list is selected.

The "Random100" playlist should have an option te select or exclude specific Genres. I like to play random shuffeld songs but if I'm in the Rock mode I don't want Classical music to be played .. and vice versa

Please Synology, these changes should all verly easely be implemented....

There is no solution, it is a clear bug.

Every time i try and shuffle even a short playlist, it results in the same order every time. Hardly random.

It also doesn't play every track in the playlist. Whether you start the playlist yourself from some specific track, or start from the top manually, or let synology choose where to start (it starts from the same spot every time). This is quite annoying as I will quite often make up a playlist of 20-30 songs or so to last me an hour or 2, then start to play it, only to find it stops about 10 minutes later when it decides it's played everything but it clearly has only played 3-4 songs.

I cannot reproduce this. I have a short playlist with 16 items and when I click shuffle in the lower right I get a different order every time.
It does always start with the first item, however, except when shuffle is on and the playing queue is empty.
My playlist is of type 'shared playlist'

What version of AudioStation you running klen?

I am having the same issues as others mentioned here with my DS213+

When shuffled is selected, even if I start from a different file if it gets to a particula file, it sill then jus follow the same sequence from there.
I also have issue of the player prematurely ending before all the songs have been played. The only way to get around this I have found is to put the olayer on repeat, granted you run the risk of gettin into the above situation where you end up in a static sequence of played files, but its a semi solution until synology do something about it, but considering this was mentioned back in 2011 I dont fancy oyr chances

Still having the issue with "Shuffle" always starting on same first song. The second song seems random, though you need to restart AudioStation though to reshuffle. This is definitely a bug.

Using: AudioStation v5.0-2414
