Can you explain how antivirus software on a client PC can affect software run on a Synology NAS?

Hello,

Rodef, are you still on DSM3.2-1922? You may try updating to 1944 as we have included a Surveillance hot-fix for your issue.
Regarding Foscam cameras, this is a known quality issue with this brand of cameras.

Please see the following thread for more details:

Hi - thanks for your message about the hotfix. I installed it yesterday, and this is what happened.

The NAS rebooted. I went into SS and saw the camera was disconnected, so I manually disabled and then enabled it.

When I checked it today, I saw that the camera was disconnected, just like what happened in FW 3.2-1922. So I decided to reboot the NAS manually again. When I got back into SS, I saw that all my videos in the Event List prior to 11 November had been deleted without my consent. Thanks, Synology, for releasing a firmware that deletes my videos without my consent.

So I rebooted the NAS again, and I saw the camera was disconnected again. Clearly there's a problem with SS not restarting properly after a reboot.

Re: 3.2 Update - Cameras disconnecting frequently

I was trying to sort same issue, I noticed that problem between two models TCM-4201 and ACM-1231 (acti cameras) was more relevant in the first one. Direct web access to cameras was OK, some times disable/enable worked fine, some times require disconnect/connect. Now, after upgrade to 3.2 1944 release with any web browser in Online View, the libavcodec_plugin.dll generates several times a crash error. Works a few hours and after that, crash multiple times (totally 20 or more at day). Anyone has suggestions?
Note: Visualization in Windows 7 64 bit, browsers IE 32, Mozilla, Chrome. Always was error but only 3 times per day. Native language: Spanish

I turned off the atuomatic daily reboot on my NAS and I haven't had any further disconnects on my camera.

+1 - Foscam cameras working under DSM3.1, upgraded my DS201j to DSM3.2 and just now to latest package 1955.... "Test" works fine but the cameras (2 of them) disconnect after a few seconds. :(

Just updated to 3.2 and now my camera keeps disconnecting too (Axis M1054). How do I reconect it? I've tried disabling/enabling, deleting and adding etc. and nothing is working!? :x

I can view my camera via the Axis software without problem. I'm finding this to be a very annoying issue. Any idea if synology are doing something about this and when a fix will be available??

I had a similiar incident few weeks back. With an Axis p1344. Camera suddenly disconnected, but camera still ok to access via direct link (internal webbrowser). SS could find the camera but unable to connect for some reason. I was desperate so I went into the camera settings page and did a "restore factory settings". It will ask you to do restore settings but keep TCP/IP settings, which is pretty handy so you don't need to do much to get it going again.
After that everything worked fine again and it didn't occur anymore since.

Thanks for the reply. I will try resetting the camera this evening and go from there. Hoepfully it will solve my issue like it did with you. Will post results...

In the mean time I have installed IP Cam View on my Android phone and can remotely view from there. This app is actually better than DS Cam as it provides a much higher frame rate compared to DS Cam's miserable 2-3fps. Not sure why it's this low with DS Cam, but without changing any configuration I'm getting 10-15fps with IP Cam View!?

My cameras have experienced "Disconnect" status too after having connected for just one day. This is a brand new Synology DS1511+ with 4-license pack for surveillance and latest release of DS3.2. I have five cameras, but only four are supported (two Panasonic iPro WV-NS202s and two Foscams). My fifth camera, D-Link DCS-6620G, passed the SS connection test, but suffered chronic disconnect for which I opened a support ticket last week. I have not received any human responses from Synology. I would like to know when is this company going to build a stable SS software that would justify the license fees I paid.

Changing the user from operator to administrator in the Foscam configuration works for me :!: :!: Look at the cameras notes here

I get around 15 disconnects every single day on my panasonic wvns202a, along with a host of other bugs and unreliability. I worked for ages with Synology to remedy them but some bugs still exist on the ns202a like securing the camera fully with own password and name it don't like it, liveview tends not to work. Motion detect recording stops for no apparent reason from time to time also.

Petfans, now you know why I stopped using synology for CCTV in the main and reverted to a DVR, the licenses are a RIP OFF.
