NZB download doesn't start

Hi,

I've just set up Download Station (DS) by filling in the account details of my newsserver in the NZB tab. However, after uploading a NZB, DS says its downloading but no data is coming in. The log states: Could not resolve hostname newsreader70.eweka.nl: ErrNo 110, Connection timed out
Waiting 10 sec to retry

What am I doing wrong?

First make sure that the appropriate ports are open and forwarded to your NAS from your router. If that's not the issue, try a different news server. Try Astraweb. Pay a small fee for a small amount of download, change the settings in download station and test it. If it all works fine, then it's likely an issue with your news server.

So which ports are needed for downloading? I've got port 5000 forwarded to my Nas and I'm able to log in to my Nas through internet.

I also experienced this issue and in my case i had misconfigured DNS.

In DSM 4 go to Control Panel -> System -> Network -> General -> DNS Server -> DNS_SERVER_IP

You can test if the DNS server you entered worked by using SSH to connect to the terminal and logging in as root and using your admin password. You should then be able to ping google.
