Can't access DS via 5000/5001, all files and web OK ??

Postby Christian_IA » Fri Oct 07, 2011 9:24 am

Hi all.

I can't get in contact with my Disk Station (DS209+II) via the web interface at port 5000 or port 5001, neither when on the same LAN or wireless, both behind the firewall or remote outside the firewall.
The firewall / router should route access on that port to the right ip adress and nothing has changed.
All other services on the Disk Station works fine, both web server on port 80, shared drives etc.

Anyone who has any recommendations or advice ?

Regards

Christian

are sure that configuration of the Firewall has not been modified ?
Can you ping your Diskstation.
If you think that it can be a Firewall problem use the reset button on the box

Yes the firewall settings have not been changed.
I can ping it allright and webserver works fine and ftp works fine.
I will try and reset it, does that ensure that all files are closed etc. ?

Seems that the system apache is not running.
Login with telnet/SSH with user "root" and use the following command:

Code: Select all
/usr/syno/etc/rc.d/S97apache-sys.sh start

Thank you very much but a shutdown and startup sorted it out, wonder why I didn't do that before.....

A shutdown and restart solved the problem, but even inside my firewall on the local LAN the Synology Assistant could only see it, not connect to it.
Disc space are pretty low.
Anyone experienced anything like this ?

I'm now updating to latest 3.2-1944 firmware.

Re: Can't access DS via 5000/5001, all files and web OK ??

Hi there.

I have the same issue since... I dont really know.
The problem is the following:
When you start the Diskstation, everything works fine for a while (1h and more). I can access the web UI, DS Audio from Iphone,...
BUT, suddently after 1-2-3 hours, the web UI stops working. I can even not anymore remotely connect the we UI (port 5000 or 50001), neither use DS Audio from iphone from work.
When I go home, I still cannot connect to the web UI port 5000 or 5001 locally. BUT I can connect all other web sites and access my files through shares. so the apache server is still running. It seems that only specific port are "crashed" or no more available.

To fix the problem, you can for sure reboot, but I did the command explained in this thread, but with restart paramaeter instead of just start because the apache is already started.... Now I dont know how long time I will be able to access the port 5000 or 5001.

Hmm, well, now the web UI stops working almost immediatley right after I restart apache. Also when I go the synology assistant, it finds my diskstation, but is not able to connect anymore. And I confirm that at this time when the web UI (port 5000 and 5001), I still can fully access to all my other web sites hosted on the port 80.

Now I restart again the apache service with the above command, and everything is back to normal, but until when .......

@Sysnology Support: We need your help on this case...
Rgds,
David

PS: if it help, I have a DS409+, 4x2Tb in Raid5. Squeezebox server running

I got a few advises by non worked.
First they asked me to send the system log, and then they asked why SqueezeBox was runing, it isn't :-)
The I should set network packets to MTU 1500.
They also stated that the issue could be related to antivirus/firewall, but I don't think so.
Here are my last reply to them:
The problem still persist after some time.
It happended after I have copied some data both to and from the DiskStation.
Prior to this, I have changed MTU to 1500 and SqueezeBox is not running.
I added some rapid share downloads just before it stopped working and now Download Director states that the DiskStation is busy.
So mayby Synology shall look in that direction, could it be some changes to the download station, some buffer overrun etc. ?
The solution by uninstalling antivirus etc. is not the right solution, I'm convinced its something related to the DiskStation, not the software as it is the same on several systems running different software.

So I'm sure it is the DSM/DiskStation, not some software on the pc.

Hello.

I've excatly the same problem with my DS411J with the latest DSM.
I don't know if it's related, but I had no problems until I enable Itunes server (I disable it now, but the problem still persist).

I can only access web UI in a short time (some hours) after I reboot the Synology. Web service (:80) & shares still works fine, the web UI doen't load and after 30s-1min the browser said " connection reseted by peer" (translated from french : "La connexion a été réinitialisée").

Anyone have tried to reset the Synology with the rear reset button ? If possible I don't want to try this if it's not resolved (all the config to write back - users,....)

Thanks a lot,
Best regards,

Christophe from Paris, France.
