Hi all,
My name is Bob (31) and I am from Utrecht, The Netherlands.

I am using the DS209 but know too little about it to fully use its potential. I am currently in the transition to Apple hardware and hope integration is better once completed.

For a living I am working as a supply chain professional helping companies improve their processes.
The time that is left is filled with cooking, several sports and lots of movies and series :)

Hi, I'm from Denmark.

I got the first Synology DS1511+ for a small company I'm IT consultant for.
My hope is to expand the business a bit, and do some NAS related work, and probably use Synology.
But it all depends on the community, since the Qnaps are so similar in price and performance.

For now, I'm waiting for a new post to me moderated and show on the forum.

Best regards!

I'm from the UK.

Bought a DS411J last week to replace an old Netgear ReadyNas Duo and so very glad I did. Still finding my feet with networking but in a week I have already done more with my DS than I ever managed with the ReadyNas.

Primarily bought as a media server to work with Sonos and Apple TV but am finding myself playing about with more different things! Everyday is a school day!

Hi

My name is Rinaldo from Kent UK.

Bought a DS211j a few months ago, but have not really got it working, it is all connected and I have managed to get some of it working. Need to study the manual harder and get some help from the forum.

Hi guys, my name's Dean and I'm from Geelong in Australia :)

Just got my DS211j yesterday and I'm loving it so far. First NAS I've owned and it was a piece of cake to set up. Hope to spend a good bit of time around here to learn some tips and tricks!

Hi everyone, I am Stephane,

I am a Synology user from Belgium since almost one year.
My DS209 has been working flawlessly until yesterday.
It is now behaving quite strangely, hence I'm here hoping to find some help.

I'm Samuel Asher. I am trying to submit a problem report using the support form here: http://www.synology.com/support/support ... p?lang=enu
and the submit button does not work.
I have an RS409 we purchased last year.
I attempted to perform a vertical expansion of the system disks from 4x1TB to 4x3TB (using only disks recommended on the product compatibility lists for our model), following the process on the Synology Wiki.
We started by upgrading the OS to DSM 3.1748. After replacing one of the disks and attempting to "repair" the volume, the system gave an error message that the volume had been created with the old DSM and could not recognize the 3TB disk.
Is it possible to change the characteristics of the volume *in place* to make it able to recognize the 3TB disk?
I read a Synology forum response which implied the only way was to create a new volume. This process is not documented by Synology, and I am afraid the downtime will be intolerable for our production environment.

This reads like an AA meeting - "Hi My name is Matt and I'm a DS User. "

Seriously - My name IS Matt, UK based, and I'm a new DS211j home user, but in life I'm an IT Consultant. Well impressed with this little box
! I've just updated to DSM 3.2 which looks good, CPU usage has dropped to an average of 40% from a constant 100% while converting my photos, and I've had my first hack attempt and block from an IP address in N Korea. I'm assuming it's an automated thing. First thing I do on these type of boxes is disable the admin account and use a different user. Still, I use a Cisco router with DMZ where the DS sits, Got Squid installed on it, luvin' it! Haven't uses PHP for a year or so, MySQL is my favorite database so looking forward to getting some web sites built.

Hello everyone,
I'm Step, currently in Italy on an extended trip. This is my first experience with NAS in general. I chose Synology because of breadth of product features, company commitment to software upgrades, and because lots of people say Synology are the best in their class. Now wish me good luck with my first DS111. :D I already posted a newbie's question here http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=106&t=41994, please take a look if you can. Thanks.
