I am a big fan of Synology. Been using their systems for many years. I have seen their apps for Apple, and they look sweet! I have, however, no expectation from Synology to actually build something for BlackBerry - neither for the Smartphones or for the new tablet. I own a PlayBook myself and I must say it rocks! But I will be surprised if we (ever...) see a native app from Synology for the tablet.

Sorry got the negative tone, but talking out of experience and the progress so far on other smartphones except BlackBerry.

I hope I am wring...

I agree. While I like the synology product the lack of BlackBerry support has led us to the conclusion we chose the wrong product for our business. We will be switching them out.

The funny aspect is that although Synology proudly uses small business network phrase exponentially, they don't really make much effort in making it avaialble for BlackBerry units that are widely used by people who use business networks.

With the new Adobe flash support and soon to be avilable Android apps portig facility, the execuses used by corporations to not develop BlackBerry PlayBook is plain ingorance.

But I truley hope I am proved wrong!

Hi,

I'm new here. My first post!

So I am looking for a NAS server for both my home and the company I consult for. My Windows Home Server is getting aged (HP EX895) so it's time that I replace it. And the company I consult at is a purely BlackBerry company. They do NOT support or allow BYOD. So NO Apple or Android devices. I was looking for a NAS server that could support our Sales Reps who would be brandishing the PlayBook and the BlackBerry phone.

Has there been any rumors or has Synology confirmed whether or not they have ANY intention of supporting the BlackBerry PlayBook or the newest device from BlackBerry that are coming out next year?

If there wo't be a native app, I at least hope Synolpgy does the Android port with BB tablet 2.0 and fixes the issue with the audio player in webkit browsers until then. Synology really rocks, but te fact that it doesn't play with Blackberry / Playbook really sucks.

Now that OS 2 is officially released, it would be nice to see Synology supply apps to support the playbook, or port their android apps to the playbook. Looking forward to their release.

Yes, I agree it would be nice if Synology ported the mobile apps to the blackberry playbook now that OS 2.0 is out.

I was under the impression that this should be fairly straight forward to do.

It is, someone has already repackaged DSAudio, etc, for the Playbook under OS 2. I have 'side-loaded' them*.
Having only just bought my DS-411j, I haven't really enough experience yet to comment on how well they perform. Folks in the Crackberry forum have said they work well but they are phone apps and don't use the extra screen space available on the tablet. It would be good if Synology would release Android based Playbook versions.

*This means putting the Playbook in development mode and using a third party tool to install them. Very simple process
