iPhoto vs. PIcasa

OS X users: Which software do you use with your Synology and why? I'm wondering which one will play nicely with the NAS...

I would also be interested to know what the mac users are doing...

I am planning to put all my pictures on my DS, when I receive it. Just in folders.
And to use iPhoto, without copying the pictures into iPhoto library.

I am wondering if you are directly putting the iPhoto library on the DS and if it works ? Or is it slow ?

The good thing, if we can run the iPhoto library directly from the DS, is that you could update it from 2 different Mac. (not at same time, of course).
So i could manage my picture from my iMac, and sometimes from the MB in bed.

Let us know, if you have some feedback. Thanks !
My first NAS : a DS110j + 2TB Seagate ST2000DL003
(Hibernate after 4h, and OFF when I am not at home)
Router Belking wifi G, lan 100Mb (project: Gigabit, wifi N, UPS)

iMac 20" & MBPro 15" - OSX 10.6.6 (+ wife on Sony Vaio - WinXP)
Current usage : central file system for our pictures and documents (2 users on different OS) and back up with TimeMachine.
