File Browser missing My Computer [merged thread]

I had it working, but reinstalled Windows and now, when I go into File Browser I get:

Disk Station
> Folder1
> Folder2
> Folder3
> Folder4

.... and that is it! I used to get, as well:

My Computer
> FolderA
> FolderB
> FolderC

I would like "My Computer" back. Any ideas?

Updated Java and it now works again!

Hello,

I have the same problem.
However, unistalling and re-installing Java did not help. I still receive a message saying "Operation Failed" when I open run the File Station and don't see any drive in "My Computer".

Please, help.

I found out that it is a compatibility problem with Firefox 7 (it works with IE and Firefox 5 and Firefox 6beta).

I think people of Synology should make a detailed report of this bug to Mozilla because Firefox 7 may come live in the coming weeks and Synology may suddenly face a lot of complaints.

Absolutely a compatibility problem w/the new Firefox. I never got this operation failed message before. File browser works fine, but now says operation failed. When I use internet explorer, I don't get the error message.

I have the same issue here too.

I thought upgrading Java from Version 6 Update 24 to Version 6 Update 26 would fix it, but nope.

I ended up rolling back down to trusty Firefox 3.6.XX.

Just downgraded to Firefox version 6.05b - 4.8.11 from here ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ and its working again.

When you install the older version its ok to click on the upgrade button to install the browser but when its installed it tells you its not the latest version but just close the tab.

In Firefox Go to Tools/Options/Advanced/Update and check 'ask me what I want to do' otherwise next time you open the browser it will install the dreaded 7.0 again.

I have a problem with connecting to my Ds110j , when i try to contact via file browser by my computer and i get the same message ´ operation failed ´ every time , i can come to Ds110j but Ds110j can´t come to my computer and see my file browser , it was working before and i don´t know what happened . Would you mind to help me to solve the problem (In computer windows 7 ,DS 3.2 ,JAVA 7 ....)

When opening File Browser I get a warning that the operation failed. Only option is to close the box with the OK button. The folders/files on my DS211j are showing and I can download. Tree on left does not expand 'My Computer' to let me upload. Was working fine a week ago. Cleaned Firefox private data before updating to their newest version this past week, so I'm thinking it's a browser issue. Should I try a different Browser? Updating to DSM 3.2 didn't help.

Problem Solved! Installed an older version of Firefox and am able to view My Computer and upload files again.

Problem is your browser if you're using Firefox 7. I had the same trouble after upgrading to 7. Check this post 'File Browser missing My Computer' on this thread. Version 6 now will display My Computer with all HDDs showing and I'm able to upload.

This issue has already been filed with Mozilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=679509. Synology: please liaise with Mozilla directly on this bug - DSM and progress on FF is too important for the community than two vendors waiting each for the other to get in touch with them...
