Installation of the HP Laserjet 1005 works fine and it is recognized by the synology 106e. However, when sending a print job nothing happens.

Is this because of an unsupported printer?

Yes, probably. I have a LaserJet 1000 and it's not supported too. Ask support directly, they will tell you.

Hi, just wanted to report that I just got my new HP Photosmart D7160 to work with DS-106e using the guide for LPR installation on:

My client PC is running Vista. I'll test an XP client aswell tomorrow and let you know if I have any problems.

I downloaded the printer drivers from http://www.hp.com an unpacked them with WinZip to be able to use the "have disk" option according to the instruction above.

Brother PT-2420PC

The PT-2420-PC works fine. Windows Vista does not inclode driver for this model but if you select the next on up (9500-PC ?) the printer is usable in Vista.

The Brother software is not able to communicate with the printer (tape width etc.) but printing works fine.

my HP DeskJet 970cxi works fine with a CS 407 FW 462 even for duplex printing with Win2000 and XP Home clients.

Just to extend the USB Printer compatibility list for the CS407e:

My CS407e with FW 2.0.3 - 0510 works fine with a HP DeskJet 930c printer. Both drivers from HP work fine (network driver and standard driver).
No fullduplex support: cartridges ink level can't be displayed.

Clients accessing from XP pro and XP home. The printing speed is very impressive: I noticed no difference between when the printer was attached to one of the PCs via USB and now where it's attached via cubestation - great!

I was able to use the drivers from HP site.

It works but the Synology Assistant identified it as a C88. Installed the printer driver manually and it works - with the exception of not being able to communicate with Environment for EPSON Status Monitor 3 so there is no warning about low on toner or paper jam, etc.
