Hi,
Now I was wondering, is there a way to just whipe the data on the HDD, without having to plug it to another computer? Because the data on it, is not very important.

no there is no other way. You can use a SATA to USB coverter or SATA to USB dockingstation or your external USB enclosure (if its for 3,5" SATA).

All right, thanks.

I just got my friends external harddrive and took out his harddrive which wasn't working. Turned out the enclosure wasn't working either.. Gosh I'm having bad luck at the moment.
Well, I'll hunt down another one!

DS-106, update: 3.1 problem?

Postby Jamespt » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:25 pm

Been running the second last upgrade for some time (DSM 3.0) on a CS106e,

Just jumped on the 3.1 and now having TINY issue, when I telnet in to edit synoinfo.conf, I can't save, due to remissions?

I'm logged in as admin, and have rights to everything, but can't save or even copy synoinfo.conf...

Ideas?

Ideas? It is explained about a million time on this forum: you have to login as root not as admin.

Re: Build my own DSM 2.2-0959 for DS-106, update: 2.3, 3.0,

Postby lucky » Sat Mar 12, 2011 1:52 am

Hello,

I have 106j currently with DSM 2.2-0942 with the following space:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 350018 243110 106908 69% /
/tmp 15100 4644 10456 31% /tmp
/dev/hda3 720341064 715668072 4672992 99% /volume1

As per Goetz procedure viewtopic.php?p=89779#p89779, can I try to upgrade directly to DSM 3.1-1594 ?

What should I do if the size is not sufficient ?

Thanks,
lucky

I've been running 3.1 for a few days now and initially performance of the NAS dropped significantly. After a few restarts things seem to be better. Does anyone have any tips on how to tweak the 106e to increase performance?

Upgrade my DS106 to DSM3.0/3.1?

Postby SCALING2FIT » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:04 pm

Hi
I've had my DS106 for 4+ years now and feel left out with not being able to upgrade the OS! I know my device very well and use it on my home cable based network, and to date have had no issues. Is it possible to "fool" my DS to upgrade to the latest DSM3.0 or 3.1..?? If so, can anyone shine some light on this process, or perhaps a user that has actually done this could advise me. Many thanks in advance... :D
Kind Regards
Gareth

Thanks maxxfi...I've visited this thread, and it is long! I'm not sure if I need to follow each pat file upgrade suggested, and was hoping someone could update me on what the latest working pat file was?
Kind Regards
Gareth

Anybody to help ?
I see a lot people have upgraded their 106j to DSM 3.0 or 3.1.
Will this work for me from DSM 2.2 directly to DSM 3.1 or I need to resize partitions ?

Can somebody with a 106j running DSM 3.0 or later, share his filesystem usage ?

Thanks a lot.

Yeah, I deserve a DOH on this one, I actually figured it out, about 30 mins after that post, needed a cafe break I guest,..
Been up and running with 3.1 for a bit now, works out well, not using all features, mainly wanted WebDisk..

Anyhow, thanks
