Yup, a router can't really be incompatible with any network device ;)
But I do see that if you havnt dealt with these kind of devices befour, DMS isn't that clear about that you don't HAVE to use Router Configuration :P

In fact, using Router Configuration is somewhat a security hole. If someone was to get access to your admin account they are free to open up all ports they want and hack your network with ease.

Get back to your router manual and check how is the procedure to create port forwarding.
Then, you have to decide what services you want to forward.

My modem not listed

Postby vincei » Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:50 pm

Hi,

Just bought a 710+ and love it !
I'm trying to setup DDNS but my modem isn't listed. I have a Draytek Vigor 2800 series.
The docs say click on the bottom to report the non-existent modem but I don't see any such button.
Help anyone ?

Thanks,
vincei

Hi

Most routers and modems aren't listed, and you don't need to set up your router from inside your DS, you can do it manually, look at this homepage to se how to open ports in your router.
http://portforward.com/

and you can see here which ports to open for your DS to work.

D-LINK 655 router not in list for setup.

Postby bendan » Wed Feb 16, 2011 7:33 pm

Synology:
Please add D-LINK 655 router to the list in the configure router/setup router screen.

If you can't put it in the list then please publish instructions for manual setup ... I am a computer 'nube' and need more help than I can find searching the internet.

Thanks

Thomson TG784n

Postby PedroP » Mon Mar 07, 2011 4:57 pm

I would like Synology to add Thomson TG784n from Thompson to their compatibility router list, so that I can configure the NAS to work ports around with the router automatically.

It is a very popular router here in Portugal from ISP Meo.

Thanks.

Going to necro this thread.

I am also a FIOS customer and would like to know. There are now 3.1 million fios customers!

Any ideas from the techs at Synology?

Does Synology usually attend requests such as this?

You could have started by doi'n a search on the forums ;)
http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=30640&p=127375&hilit=configure+manually#p127375
But I´ll answer it here to: If your router isn't in the list, simply configure it manually instead. The Built in "Router Configuration" don't have to be used.

router not listed

Postby kierancoghlan » Tue Apr 05, 2011 8:23 am

I'd like to set up my router for port forwarding, but my router is not listed in the most recent router list. I have a Belkin model F7D8301. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Get the manual of the router and read the chapter about port forwarding.
If it is a supported operation, it should not be any rocket science to configure it.

Okay, I can do port forwarding on my router. I thought that DSM required me to do additional setup using this utility. If all that's required is that the router is setup for port forwarding, I can do that.

Thanks.
