Sounds interesting. But I'm a newB so please allow me to ask a couple questions:

Would this require using iTunes as your media server? If so, I'd rather see a more universal solution for audio "broadcast."

I'm currently trying to determine if one could hang a USB device off the Synology disk server in order to broadcast audio wirelessly to a receiver (or receivers) throughout the home. The receivers could be attached to full blown audio systems.

I'm thinking this shouldn't be too challenging, but I've only had my Synology gear a week, so I'm still learning.

THANKS!

Regarding your other thoughts about hooking your DS up to a full blown audio system, that is already very much possible!

To get it wireless...hmm, shouldn't be that hard..*thinking* :)

I have an iPad and an Airport express. I can confirm that AirPlay works with the DS audio app. Out of the box.

Hmm, again I apologize for my newB-ness, but from what I see, the AirPort Express is a Wifi device that has the audio outputs for your "stereo."

That looks pretty awesome...but then I get lost. If you do the "streaming" through DS Audio, I would expect the audio to be streamed to your device (i.e. your iPad.) And if you are using DS Audio in remote mode, then you need to "stream" your audio out the USB of the NAS, no?

Sorry if I'm way off base here...

THANKS!

Aha, ok. So. If I get this correctly, you want to be able to play audio from the Audio Station web interface on your pc and stream it to something like an airport express. Am I correct?

This, or I totally don't get it.

Another alternative would be:
To make sure that the itunes server can be accessed with the Remote app.

(I dont know how the itunes server option works and this may be not even possible?)
