Don't see Itunes server in iTunes! [merged thread]

Same problem here. My configuration is
1x DS110j - LAN (wired) DSM 3.0.1354
1x winXP 32bit/iTunes (WiFi)
1x Mac OS/X 10.6/iTunes (WiFi)

Do you have Audio Station enabled as well?

I have found that if Audio Station is enabled, then iTunes Sharing will not work. As soon as I disable Audio Station, then my iTunes share shows up immediately. The second I enable Audio Station again, my iTunes share disappears.

I have a open ticket with Synology regarding this.

- Everything is in the same subnet. It does not matter if I switch Audio Station on/off. I did turn iTunes On, but I just can't see the shared library.

I have same problem. But when i change "shared name" on NAS and de- and activate " look for shared librarys" in Itunes, it works as long as i do not close and reopen iTunes.

They told me to check the DS' firewall settings, but that did not help.

Unfortunately it makes no difference if the Audio Station is on/off.

iTunes 10 breaks the fireflymedia/daapd based server (which is what synology uses). At some point you'll see your server but you won't be able to play music.

I have 10.1 itunes and see this issue still. I have tried disabling anything in the firewall, no change. Also tried to suggestions in this post;

-disable audio station, no change
-disable itunes share, reenable with new name, no change
-disable search for shared libraries in itunes, no change
-tried to reindex itunes server/audio on DS, no change.

running latest firmware on DS 207 w/ itunes 10.1.

so now after messing around I can see the share on my laptop, but not desktop.

Laptop is wireless with itunes 10.1.0.56 running windows 7 professional

Desktop is wired with itunes 10.1.0.56 running xp professional sp3

DS207 is on 3.0-1354

both are on same network, same subnet....

Hi All,

I also have the same problem, I've just got a DS211 and am running Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop.

I've enabled iTunes server, updated to 10.1 of iTunes, and checked look for shared folders. I can see the media server in my Network in Windows but it won't find it in iTunes.

All firewall ports are open in the DS211 and my router to ensure nothing is preventing it there.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

any updates on this? I actually could see the iTunes server on both my desktop PC and my macbook air yesterday, but it's since disappeared. I changed a TON of settings though between now and then, so I have no clue what I did.

I'm having the same trouble with a DS207 and Windows Vista 64bit. My router is a Netgear WNDR3700.

I can't see the shared folder under iTunes 10.1.1.4.

All firewalls are turned off, audio server disabled, tried restarting NAS/router/computer/itunes service multiple times.

This is lame, everything else works fine (file station, DLNA, etc). Come on Synology give us a solution!

Will contact Synology support and draw their attention to this thread, if they help me out I'll update here.

I have the same problem in my new DS211J.
I can't see the server in my iMac. Only when I switch off the server and then switch on again, the server appears in shared in iTunes, but in few minutes disappears.

Please help us !!!!

That is so weird. I edited my post and now it's gone??? Oh well. (Yes, I waited 24hrs and it still hasn't shown back up)

I have a DS111 that I just set up and it wis working with iTunes no problem. After I added my media I went to the control panel and Re-indexed the following Media Server, Audio Server, iTunes Server. In that order. It's probably overkill but it worked.

Services I have enabled.
Win/Mac/NFS --> Enable Mac File Service w/ Time Machine and Bonjour
Nothing else in the WIn/Mac/NFS
Media Server --> DLNA/UPnP Server --> Enable Internet Radio
iTunes --> Enable iTunes Service with a custom shared name.
Audio Station --> Enable Audio Station 2
Photo Station --> Enable Photo Station 4
Download Station --> Enable Download Station 2
File Station --> Enable File Station (HTTPS)
Terminal --> Enable Telnet

Also, make sure you IP Address is Static and not Dynamic. I'm pretty sure you'll run into issues with a Dynamic address. I do plan on using DDNS and Web Services, but I haven't gotten to that point yet.

1 more thing. Check your router and firewalls. You need to make sure port 3689 is open. That is the iTunes Music Sharing, Airtune/Airplay port. Here is a list of all the ports utilized by Apple products.link

Same problem: with apple tv 2g i'm unable to use synology itnes server... i have to use my pc.
Please help use !!!!
