installing software & warranty concerns

Is there a clear cut line drawn for 3rd party software installation and when this does or does not void the warranty?

I'm aware of telneting in causing a warranty void but what about installation of content management software? Is Joomla and Xoops and Mamboserver approved, but not supported officially? And do all 3 void the 'warranty'?

Any form of any hardware modification to any part of the Synology Product will instantaneously void the owner's warranty by Synology.

Any form of software modification will waive the owner's right to online technical support, as Synology does not support the modification of Synology Products, nor guarantee that 3rd party software will work properly with the Synology Product. For community support with modified systems, please look here

Any form of damage resulting from modification will be at the owner's responsibility and risk.

Synology reminds all owners to periodically backup their data for everyday use or for modification.
