Have you coldbooted after patching? Warmbooting is not enough.

I read that the patch is applied to disks that are unpatched only. Others are skipped. But I'm not sure.

nah just did a normal reboot. maybe after a cold reboot the patch would detect the disks had already been updated.

AFAIK the drive has to be separated from power in order to take over the patch. So after patching switch the host off.

Has anyone else noticed the patch lets you apply it to the same drive multiple times?
This isn't much of a problem, but that coupled with the fact the version doesn't update means there's no way of checking whether the drive has previously been updated.

No, it doesnt apply the patch multiple times. I dont know how it does it, but it detects that the HD is already patched and ignores the HD. At least this was my experience.

I second that. So I think markglh, your disk was not really patched. Switch the computer off (cut power) after having patched.

The following runs of the patch program will find nothting to patch, if your disk really is patched.

Yes I ran it twice on the same drive WITHOUT rebooting in between. It just exits back out to a C:\ (or X:\) prompt without doing anything additional.

Umm I don't know, but probably you can with hdat2

I've been trying to patch my drives now, but subsequent runs of the patch successfully reflash the drives every time. I'm pulling the power cord out here even.

Is there any other way of verifying that the drives are patched?

I've reapplied the patch using the new link (same file i think just different filename). This time I powered down the machine afterwards and unplugged it for a bit before letting it reboot. This seems to have solved my problem here:

Before I removed the drives from my machine i tried patching them again (after cold booting) and the patch DOES apply again, or at least it pretends to. It does exactly the same as the first time, indicating a successful update.

If you try to apply the patch immediatly again (without rebooting) it just pauses for a bit then returns to the command line without any sort of indication regarding the result.

I've applied the patch to my two HD204UI installed in my ds211j and I confirm what markglh said. Even if you completely reboot the patch does apply again. I hope it's ok...
And the firmware version number doesn't change at all.
