File transfer problems (Bug) in DSM 3.0 - 1337

Postby D-OCHO » Fri Oct 22, 2010 7:33 pm

I have a Synology DS508 just upgraded to DSM 3.0 - 1337
If I transfer files from my computer to the DS508 via Windows Explorer after a few 100 MB the transfer stops with a network error.
The error is:
Write error: The specified network name is no longer available.

If I upload the files via File Browser in DSM than I have no problems.

With the previous version of DSM 2.3-1157 I never had this problem. Transfering files up and down never gave me a problem before. :?

Also file transfer speed is down.
I used to transfer with about 35 MB/s now I'am transfering with 11 MB/s.
Synology DS-508 (1 GB RAM),
4 x WD15EADS 1 x WD20EARX (RAID 5 = 6TB usable),
APC Smart-UPS 1500
2 x Nokia E52

I am having the same problems with DSM 3.0-1354.

The file transfer starts and then after a varying period of time I get a Write error : The specified network name is no longer available

I am trying to transfer from Windows 7 to my CS407e

Did you guys open a support ticket with Synology? I have seen many such problems with the latest firmware but I dodn't think they will get resolved without support being aware...

Same problem here.

Using Windows Explorer to move files from laptop to Synology 211j. Transfer stops randomly after a short period. Very annoying. If this product cannot be used in conbination with Windows Explorer and a wireless network, it goes back to the supplier. I am buying a working system, not a hobby kit.

Keeping you updated:

Although I paid my supplier for installing the discs, and upgrading to the latest firmware (DSM3.0 1354) they failed to do so. (1348 was running).

I upgraded the DSM which was a painless effort. I hoped my problems would have been solved, but there was no effect at all, unfortunately.

I filed a support ticket, hoping for the best.

Got a reply from Synology. Will need to test with a direct cable connection.

Will also need to test with firewall and anti virus turned off. This is a problem, my computer is part of a domain (work) where I do not have rights to turn things off. Will ask them tomorrow to shut things off temporarily on my computer.

To investigate further:

-I run Eset NOD32 virus protection
-I run Windows firewall
-I have a Copperjet 1616 ADSL modem / router
-I use a HP laptop
-I use a Linksys wireless access point

Anyone with similar problems and hard/software?
