File Station 3 Firefox upload problem

Postby whatever » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:27 pm

Before upgrading a firmware to DiskStation 2.3 I could easily upload files using my Firefox browser (3.6) and File Station 2. Now - File Station 3 works only with IE. Any reason/fix for that? :x

Hi:
Could you describe in more details what errors occurred when uploading in Firefox 3.6 ?

The default upload mechanism in DSM 2.3 in File Station will display a upload queue on the bottom, which will display current uploading files you choose.

Thanks

Exactly it does as you said but an error appears in the Status saying "You are not authorized to use this service". I thought first it was due to the firewall settings or https but after turning it all off I didn't see any change. So I went to IE and everything worked just fine (in the pop-up window with a progress bar).

I suspect it might be Java applet install problem. Could you disable Java Runtime in Firefox and try again ?

Hi,

Here are all the actions that haven't solved the uploading "You are not authorized to use this service" in Firefox (not necessarily in this order):

Updating Firefox (now at 3.6.2)
Updating Java (now at v6 update 19)
Updating Flash player (now at v10.0 r45)
Deleting extensions.ini and other files offered as possibly corrupted
Spybot (no problems found--I'd been using Kaspersky already)
Disabling the Java console

The error console shows perhaps a hundred errors associated with our File Station URL, then various specifics, like
/WebURI/style.css?139
/scripts/extis/resource/css/ext-all.css?139
(most errors were with the latter)

Most of the errors are either:

"Unknown property '-moz-opacity'. Declaration dropped Line: <various line numbers>"
"Unknown property 'zoom'. Declaration dropped Line: <various line numbers>'-
Less common unknown properties errors were for '-moz-outline' and 'text-overflow'.

or

"Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped Line: <various line numbers>"
Less common parsing errors occurred for 'white-space', 'width', and 'background position'.

I'm on Windows 7 updated as of a few days ago, on a machine a couple months old that was already running very recent versions of everything.

Are these enough clues as to what's going on and how to correct?

Thanks

Hello,

we have the same issue with one user. Firefox gives an "you are not authorized to use this service" error and prevents uploads. Chrome and IE do work on the machine, Safari does not display the file tree.

This is on a brand new Windows 7 machine with all updates installed.

Any suggestions?

Has any satisfactory solution been found for this pain in the rear end, yet?

Filestation 3, on a DS110j latest firmware version, and apparently even as the Admin of this XP machine, I'm not authorised to use this service with Firefox, but it will work with Microsoft Internet Explorer, which under normal circumstances I wouldn't touch with a long pole.

So aside from MIE any solution yet?
ATM. (At the moment) I have the drive mapped to the network which means I can use the Windows filer, so I don't have to use Internet Explorer.

I've just finished on the XP machine which has Java 6 update 19 installed, and moved to my Win 7 Laptop which has Java 6 update 18 on it, interestingly Filestation 3 work okay with Firefox on this machine.

I would revert the Java on the XP machine back to 6-18, but previous versions get uninstalled after the lastest version are installed.

Ah well! maybe when Java 6-20 comes out it'll sort the problem.

I'm normally using IE8 and have no problems with that.
Just to see what differences there would be, I tried both FireFox and Chrome and the both worked fine with that difference,
that Chrome was much quicker than FireFox. The Speed was about the same for Chrome as for IE8.

Got the Java update 6.0.20 installed and both Win 7 and Win XP machines yesterday.
The file upload still works okay on Win 7, but remains at fault on both the XP machines.

One of my machines with an XP install now works okay, and while the both have the same OS and updates, the second XP machine will not do the upload business.
Ah well! another of those little computer annoyances... Anyone for going back to a typewriter or Biro. ;-)

Had to chime in and report I'm seeing the same problem and getting the "You are not authorized to use this service"
error message from both a DS108j and DS109 with firmware 2.3-1157 when using latest Firefox & Java when trying to
perform upload via the File Station.

Am running Win XP +SP3, just updated to Firefox 3.6.6 and Java 6 update 20.

When I try using IE8 get no error message, and everything works fine like it should.

Safari 4.0.5 works fine too with no errors.

Re: File Station 3 Firefox upload problem

Hi gurus,

I'm running Ubuntu (karmic) x86_64 arch. with Firefox 3.6.6 and Java 1.6.0_20. I have a ds210j running on 2.3.0_1167 release.
When I use file station 3 to upload files from my computer to the DS210j, I get the "You are not authorized to use this service" error. All seems to go well during the upload but when it reaches 100% the error occurs.

I'm willing to help debugging but I need to know if there is a way to activate JavaScript/Ajax tracing and logging on DS210j in order to spot where the error comes from?

From my side, I've tried Opera and Google Chrome but unsuccessfully. When the File Station loads up the page, "My Computer" does not appear at all in the window.

I suspect a Java problem there. I've tried to use Java 1.6.0_18 and 1.6.0_19 versions but no better status there.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
