Thanks for your mail and waiting.

We have a patch to fix this issue, please download it via this link,

mod note: link removed

Please help us to apply it via Control Panel --> DSM update.

Hope this could help.

It works for me... :)

Thanks Frogman, it works for me as well, now just have to find out what app on my ipad wakes it back up ? cheers :)

Re: DS don't stay in hibernate mode since DSM 4.1-2636

Thanks for the patch. Worked right away for my ds212+. Had the same problem, my two disks (WD30WZRX) never really hibernated with the described error in logs. The workaround didnt work either for me. The messages disappeared but still no luck with hibernate. Stopped all services, pulled the network cable, even killed some processes by hand, nothing helped. The patch did. Now it hibernates correct as it seems.

Maybe you should check your version again? This seems to be just a patch, so it will probably just work on exactly DSM4.1-2636. I think its a bad idea to install it on other versions.

Hi Orbit, can you let me know what config file editor you used, i assume this is to edit the fan settings from windows rather than using vi in telnet ?

I'd like to have a look and maybe edit mine to see why it runs faster when on even though it's set to quiet mode. Thanks :)

Have a look at this wiki for information about hibernation debugging:

The information in that wiki probably wont help with firmware bugs, but should show how to access to logs in /var/log/messages file.!
I am using a 212+ and the 'patch' didn't appear to work for me (still woke up with gateway errors after reboot) and the network control panel was very hard to change (unable to change most settings)
Synology still haven't got back to me after putting in a report over 4 days ago.

From the documentation I've read on Hibernation the fans are supposed to stay powered on the low setting while in hibernation to prevent system board overheating.

FFS I HATE HIBERNATE, seems there is always an issue. Latest issue is now squeezebox preventing hibernate.

My old DS212 did power off it's fan during hibernate and the DS213+ did not so...

CPU is always running even when NAS is in hibernation. It may well be that the PPC in the 213+ has a higher cooling needs (or a worse case airflow) than the ARM running the 212.

Synology has stated somewhere on their website (don't remember the URL right now) that the fan on the DS213+ should be off during hibernation (for power saving issues) so I expect it to be off.
They made quite a fuzz about the DS213+ new advanced power saving features so it would be odd if the fan should be running all the time.

Patch worked on my DS212J. I still get regular wakeup calls logged for 'Deep Sleep' but at least it now stays hibernated. Thanks

After update DSM 4.1 No HDD sleep mode more!

Postby dickbaua » Fri Sep 07, 2012 7:08 pm

Yesterday I installed on my DS 212+ the update DSM 4.1-2636. Since the HDD was not in standby. Have reset and stand for 10 minutes several times taken. Unfortunately, no success! I am 100% sure that it's the update. Have already contacted the support! Can one help me. Has anyone this problem?

Newbie here.

I've had my DS112 for a few months now and have had minor intermit problems with sleep, if I check Hibernation it didn't sleep at all with DSM 4.0

Now. I upgraded to 4.1 and there is no sleep at all.......unless I unplug the Ethernet cable then it sleeps/Hibernates fine.

I really purchased the DS for the Cloud Station for my Mac computers (which work beautifully) . I also installed DS Video (which works beautifully). Since the sleep issues I deleted DS Video thinking that was the problem (it wasn't)

Not sure how to proceed, would really like some help. I did submit a support ticket but haven't heard anything.

Thanks
