DS212J wont sleep / hibernate

Postby iainatt » Tue Jan 24, 2012 4:40 pm

Hi,

I just isntalled 2 WD caviar greens in my DS212J, but the system never sleeps now. Its on full 24/7. It used to sleep and the fan used to go off. I went to settings in the synology manager and it is set to turn off after 20mins. What have I done wrong does anyone know?

I also have it set to "quiet mode" under power options.

thanks

The fan isn't the best indication for hibernating. The status LED is (top / left LED). This LED is off during hibernation, the others remain lit. Also, some applications prevent the DS to go into hibernation mode. SABNZBD; Webalizer; others.

hi,

i dont have any applications installed and no machines are accessing the NAS but it wont sleep. Its lights are on, the drives are spun up and the fan is on. I think that means the drives aren't hibernating properly.

I havent installed anything other than the latest patch for the NAS. It does have the media server on and the sound station and the file station but even when I am not using these, the NAS doesnt sleep.

I do have a WD TV live connected but I dont think that is accessing it at night to keep it from hibernating.

hi,

I disabled every service running and it appears to be working again,

I had running

Windows file sharing (i still have this on)
NFS
Itunes service
printer service
Audio station
Picture station
Media streamer (DLNA)
Mac file server
file station
Download station + emule on
No-IP ip updating for my host.

So just the top one running now, and it appears to be working as intended, and it hibernates again. Happy me :) - no idea which one of them was causing the anti-hibernating.

On my DS212j I have Antivirus Essential, Media Server and Logitech Media Server running.

My system will not hibernate until I stop the Logitech service.

Posting this in case it helps others.

If you disable the uPnP plug in on your Logitech Media Server, it might hibernate again. that is what did the trick in my configuration. As I only use squeezepad to stream from my LMS, the disabling of the uPnP wasn't issue for me

Go to LMS via

http://your IP Address:9002/

-> then 'server settings'
-> then 'plugins'
-> disable the option called 'UPnP/DLNA Media Interface Adds a UPnP/DLNA AV MediaServer and MediaRenderer, enabling access by other devices on the local network.'

Hello,

I do have the same problem over here. The DS212j won't hibernate at night (al computers are shut down, no local network activity, ...)

I now started to disable services under packages (see screenshot).

I'll keep you posted, what service kept the DS running.

Hello,

In my case it was the Surveillance Station service who kept my DS online. By disabling the service and disconnect all shares the DS does hibernate after 10 minutes.

In my case it helped to go back to an older version of the server and leaving empty mysqueezebox.com login credentials. From then on DS212j sleeps again while Logitech Server is on :).

Edit: obviously it works with filled-in login, so the problem must be with the version of the server software.
