Two volumes and hibernation

Postby Garmin » Wed Dec 21, 2011 3:31 pm

Hi

I have just recieved a DX510 to expand my DS710+
I have created a seperate volume (raid5) on the dx.
If i ever get the DS710 to go into hibernation, is this for both volumes at the same time ?
Will both volumes be startet if there is demand for date form the first volume ?
I am running the latest firmware, and it looks like the hibernation is not working.
Both the DS710 and my two DS409slim have all disks spinning 24/7

Well, the disk hibernation settings set a timer on each disk, so potentially each disk can react differently.
If you have two disks used for two different volumes, both disks are in hibernation, and the NAS requires data access to one of the volumes, likely only one disk will 'wake up'.
However, as all disks contain also a mirror copy of the DSM, if the I/O access is directed at the operating system side, it is possible that all disks will wake up (or that they will never go to sleep).

Jeg ved ikke hvorfor at jeg har fået hibernation til at virke delvist.
But i read carefully all about hibernation in the forum.
especially: Unofficial checklist to test/ solve hibernation issues
After nearly 1½ month of intensive work and tests i'd reached a ½ solution :)
Unofficial test

For a period i had to be satisfied with that...
Hopefully You will get at least a little solution using the one by one method

Happy new year! :D
