HDD's are constantly active

Postby vonRasmussen » Sun Nov 11, 2007 9:35 pm

Hi.

I've just installed my new CS407 and (due to extreamly poor LAN performance) upgraded to firmware 2.0.3 - 0518.

Before as well as after the firmware upgrade, the 3 disk drives configured as RAID5, are a bit active every 30 sec. - even though nothing on the LAN is active. I even see this activity when all other units on the LAN are turned off.

What is causing this?

Also - I seen somewhere about hybernate. Is it possible to setup the delay for when the unit is going into hybernate?

Your HDD activity is almost certain because of the reindexing of your multimedia files.

Hibernation time can be set in the Webinterface.

Hi Trolli.

I've disabled the madia-stuff, iTunes etc. I'm only using the unit as file server.
Do you have any other ideas?

I must have overlooked the hibernate setting in the web GUI. Could I ask you to specify the navigation path to the setting?

I'm not sure - but I think the indexing of multimedia-files will be done even if the multimedia-services are disabled.

Hibernation settings can be found in System -> Power management
