I have all the information from my drives backed up to external drives along with the configuration file. I only had one 2TB drive installed in a SHR. I installed a 2TB drive and want to change to a raid 1. How do I make these changes?

You can not change from SHR to RAID1, but you can add the 2nd HD to the existing SHR volume. The result is the same.

I am just about to install my new ds212+. Throug the quick start I wanted to create a new volume using RAID 1 but when the storage manager opens, it looks that a volume was already created using SHR. Can I remove the SHR Volume and create the new using RAID 1?
Or any other recommendations?

Yes you can, but you wont get any advantage or disadvantage if you change. It is simply the same on a 2 bay unit.

thx for the quick answer.
if I understood that correctly, SHR uses/wastes more disk space than RAID 1?

I have the same situation. I bought the NAS a while ago with 1 2TB drive and set it up as SHR. Now I just added another 2TB drive, and it says "SHR Without Data Protection." So am I protected? I'd like Raid 1 (or the SHR equivalent). Thanks in advance!

Protected against what? SHR or RAID is no backup solution at all!
And no, you dont have a mirrored volume yet.
