import existing volume back to DSM

Postby matthiaslink77 » Thu May 17, 2012 11:26 pm

Hi,

I recently upgraded my DS410 with a DX510. Then I moved my 4 x 2 TB HDDs to the DX510 and inserted 4 x 1.5 TB into the DS410. I recreated the DSM-Installation on those 1.5 TB drives and created a volume1 there.

Now I have 4 x 2 TB drives, containing the old volume1 from before with valid data that I want to keep.

I could reassemble the md-array and do a manual mount, but the DSM GUI does not recognize the old config.

Is there a way to import the existing config from those valid drives into DSM or do I have to copy off all data an recreate a volume2 with DSM, copying all data back to the newly created volume2 after that?

Thanks for your advice :-)

Best regards, Matt.
