Genius Playlists

Postby 2326766 » Sun Jan 22, 2012 5:08 am

Hi,

I have used "smart playlists" that Synology has added in the "audio station". It works ok depending on the user defined rules.

However, could a type of playlist option be added similar to apple's itunes "genius playlist"?
When a song is highlighted, and you click genius, it will select music in your library that match.
Therefore, making a very nice playlist automajically.

Can you incorporate this?

I used to have this sort of functionality in a Linux (desktop) music player, using Last.fm (similar artist) data. As I rely heavily on Last.fm for stats and music discovery I'd prefer a Last.fm-based solution. As there still isn't basic scrobbling support in Audio Station I'm not hoping too hard for something like this.

My music library has grown a lot over the last few years.

Since the diskstation is a placeholder for the music and already indexed for the audio station app to use, why not utilize the feature similar to itunes?
What the audio station needs when creating a smart playlist is to decide how many songs in the playlist, generate the playlist based off a song selection.

Please look into making the playlists feature easier with a genius like feature.
