iTunes shared drive??

I has recently added a Synology DS211j NAS drive to our home network - I have copied MP3 files to the music drive of the NAS and am now wanting to play these tracks via iTunes - I can see the device in the 'Shared' menu in iTunes however can't seem to get to play the tracks. When I click and hold down the mouse on the shared device menu, the full track listing is displayed - however, when I release the mouse, the track listing disappears - I am using a MAC . Any idea what might be up?
